I don't give a fuck, actually, what a bunch of basement dwellers do on IMDB. It's not particularly a strong data point.
The only data point I do care about is how much am I enjoying the show... and that's about 90 out of 10 Dr. Manhattan Dicks. I think it's great. I thought this past Sunday's episode was wonderful. Jean Smart is the fucking bomb, I can't wait to watch her and Regina King.
Now that the haters have hated on it, I wonder if they will move on or keep reminding everyone how much they hate something and desperately try and convince others they too should hate it.

Nerd rage isn't just a made up thing.
Some people get a little snowflakey when it comes to depicting American atrocities, especially those that involve black people in America.
Now throw on top of that, showing consequences of those atrocities, calling the show Watchmen, and having it be a sequel with not much connection to the original story, and you have a recipe for incel outrage.
They're very active on the internet and have become adept at making it seem that a show (or movie) is less popular than it actually is. I don't trust any of these sites and I doubt very much that HBO does either, which is after all, most important.

The third episode finally hit a lot of the right notes for me. I am really curious to see Laurie's backstory in coming episodes. What has happened in the intervening years since the original series? I am starting to like the idea of this show being a separate story told in the Watchmen universe rather than a direct sequel to the comic. It is working much better than the Doomsday Clock. Laurie's monologue throughout and the final scene with the wink (?maybe?) from Dr. Manhattan have been real highlights of the series so far.

Sunday’s episode of Watchmen introduced, or rather reintroduced, FBI agent Laurie Blake, aka Laurie Juspeczyk and the second Silk Spectre in the original graphic novel, here played by Jean Smart. Laurie was once romantically involved with Dr. Manhattan, but she hastens to show everyone she’s not the same girl she was back then—which is why it’s such a surprise when, toward the end of the episode, she opens her briefcase and pulls out … a big blue phallus, reminiscent of her big blue ex, who’s currently in exile on Mars. Slate talked to Lila Byock, a supervising producer/writer on Watchmen and co-writer of this episode (“She Was Killed by Space Junk”), about the mythology of Dr. Manhattan’s genitals, the prop’s resemblance to a Jeff Koons sculpture, and whether commissioning it violated HBO’s human resources handbook.

There’s a weird dissonance in this show where half the show lives in a world of cops and extreme race relations and the other half lives in a world of superheroes and magic.

Another interesting thing that I read online, but I haven't gone back to the episode to time it to be certain, is that after Laurie finished her message to Doctor Manhattan, the booth said that it would take 44 seconds for the message to reach Mars. Apparently, the car fell from the sky 45 seconds later.

I find myself thinking of Andy Sipowicz in NYPD Blue when watching this show. Something about that moral grey zone as a police officer inhabited by Angela. The race relation stuff in that regard.

This show continues to present a very interesting world that is not just different from ours, but also pretty different from the world shown in the source material.
But the show manages to still keep at least one foot planted firmly in the world of the original story. In episode 4 we get a discussion of Laurie's history as told to Angela by Petey. e even get short clips from the movie showing the Comedian and the original Silk Spectre inserted.
We also get the introduction of Lady Treiu, a new character I think. She is a trillionaire who, it appears, will play a key role. I was intrigued by her and the clever way she gets that family to sell their house and property to her on the spot, after she just shows up at the couple's house. How could a couple who had been unsuccessfully trying to get pregnant, turn down their "own" baby plus 5 million dollars.
But Lady Trieu's daughter may be even more interesting. She has weird memories of a life in Viet Nam that predate her birth. She might be a clone of her "mother."
And speaking of clones, Viedt's pulling those clone fetuses out of that pond and throwing some of them back was bizarre as hell. There is speculation that he could be imprisoned on the moon. Not sure about that, but it does seem that he is a prisoner in an isolated place.
So we get definitive proof that Angela is the ancestor of the family we saw in the show's opening scenes in the Tulsa massacre.
Anxious to see what it is that Will has done that he thinks will be seen as a betrayal by Angela.

It seemed pretty clear to me the guy was trying to design a suit that would allow him to survive a catapult trip from the moon to Earth.
The peteypedia puts Hollis Mason in a worse light than I suppose I remembered him from, but some of it could be chalked up to the times he lived in. Honestly the peteypedia doesn't really put Petey (is he lubeman?) in a good light, either.

He may have only known some sort of altercation happened between the two of them and Silk Spectre, without knowing what had went down. I hadn’t seen any of the promo materials for this if they exist but it sure has been surprising. I’m still trying to wrap my head around all of it but it’s not what I expected. I’m kind of surprised by the lack of buzz around it at least in my usual haunts online and not.
