Your CBS series ideas

Are you talking about the woman he's chasing? a) Credited as "Cigar Girl," played by Maria Grazia Cucinotta; b) Definitely not Michelle Yeoh.

Maybe it's a European thing, but this is the first time I've ever seen that boat called a "cigar" (I've always known them as "cigarette boats").

She's the girl who offers Bond a cigar in the office in the first part of the teaser. (The office sequence was originally going to be the entire teaser, ending with Bond using his belt gadget to escape from the office, but they didn't think the teaser had enough going on, so they extended it until after the boat sequence.)

She's been around since the 90's (Supercop with Jackie Chan, The Heroic Trio).

She's been a Bond Girl (The World Is Not Enough, Tomorrow Never Dies). She was in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Memoirs of a Geisha.

She was around LONG before Crazy Rich Asians.
yeah she's had a great career, but she's enjoying a surge in popularity in recent years.

Here's my idea:

Star Trek: Bullshit Expectations
  • It's about exploring the galaxy...but also about intergalactic politics and small character stories
  • It moves ahead in the timeline (Post-Nemesis), but also is tied to the 23rd century era
  • It has great action and special effects, but not so much as to draw "Star Wars" or "JJ Trek" comparisons
  • Lots of moral and ethical questions, but not so much that it's preachy.
  • Will reference characters and canon events, but not be fanwanky.
  • The production design will be unique and exciting but also respect and acknowledge Trek's past
  • Roddenberry's Vision will be honored, but the show will avoid being stuck in archaic storytelling modes
  • No "grimdark" storytelling. Except when audiences love that stuff. Then it's ok. Because Utopia is boring sometimes. But not always.
  • It won't have TEH BAD WRITING!!!1!1! The stories and structure will please absolutely everyone all the time
  • There will be lots of science and technical accuracy...but not so much to be accused of being over-technobabblish
  • An ensemble diverse cast (not too diverse) but with great individual characters who are all featured and loved equally
  • It will be an arc-based show, but not too arc-based...with mostly self-contained episodes. But an arc. With individual stories. In an overarching arc. That's not too complicated so as to be considered an arc.
  • Everyone will love the writers and producers, both from a talent / output standpoint, and as people. Because the people making Star Trek should be above reproach. Just like the fans.
  • The uniforms will be new and unique, but also functional and realistic
  • Aliens will be new and really "different," but not so "different" that it's not relatable or over the audience's heads
  • The stories will be smart, but not pretentious. Because Star Trek.
  • Lots of pew pew and explosions, but an equal amount of sipping tea in silence in the conference room pondering the meaning of all things
  • Clear statements on Trek's position on politics and religion, but not so clear that it has any chance of offending me if my viewpoint differs
  • Anson Mount will be in it.

In other words: This hypothetical someone would want the next Star Trek series to talk out of both sides of its mouth. And have Pike.

Sounds about right.
