Billy Beane has been doing it in Oakland for years, as has Brian Cashman in New York (reportedly a reason he sacked Girardi, because Girardi told him to fuck off), Brodie Van Wagenen was calling down to the dugout during Mets games to tell Callaway what to do with pitching changes this past season, and Friedman has been doing it with the Dodgers. Epstein has two huge blind spots: First, nepotism (as I explained in an earlier post). Second, he has a semi-pathological obsession with being able to say, "Look how fucking smart I am."
