Same here. Luke will always be my go to Star Wars guy (yes, even after TLJ) but Rey is what I want for my daughters.and I say that as a straight white male, happy to know that any daughters I might have will be able to see someone who looks like them wielding a lightsaber.
ETA:
I stumbled upon an article discussing this topic. Obviously this will not convince anyone of one side or the other. I utilize more to challenge the preconception that somehow thinking Rey is not a Mary Sue is a minority position that needs to be eliminated.
Here is a quote and the link is below:
Well, the answer is simple: She's not a Mary Sue. That's just a really lame way to complain about a character that some people really dislike for reasons I simply cannot fathom. Luke was every bit as OP is in the context of the original trilogy. In some ways, he's even more Mary Sue-ish than Rey, though The Last Jedi remedies that in beautiful fashion by giving Luke his own baggage and regrets. But Luke, like Anakin before him, was presented as the Chosen One who will bring Balance to the Force. The entire first six movies were built around creating this myth around Luke and his father. Rey, on the other hand, is just Rey. She's not a Chosen One, she's not the daughter of some other famous character. She's nobody.
