Joker Origin Story Announced

Saw it last night with my significant other. Really enjoyed the movie. Probably right at the top of “superhero” movies for me.

If you'd told me in 2018 that two of my favourite films of 2019 would be from DC (Joker and Shazam!) I'd have laughed in your face.

DC is about to become more popular than Marvel. Feige is stretching himself two thin,Endgame feels like closure to many with all the phase 1 heroes leaving. The big female lead isn't nearly as good or Iconic as Wonder Woman,Abrams is a great producer who will be running things. They are on a role and Batman will be back soon and also Superman and The Rock as Black Adam. Joker also opens up the chance of even more edgy stuff Disney will only allow with Deadpool. Jason

DC isn't strongly perceived by the general audience as a movie brand to the extent Marvel is - people just know some of the individual characters.

Which is fine.

This might change when they do another Justice League. I think they are just waiting for a new Superman to try. I think it would even be cool if that was his first apperance. Jason

This nonsense again? One good movie recently doesn't make up for years of failure.

More than one. Wonder Woman,Aquaman,Shazam and Joker. WW sequel,Suicide Squad revamp,BlackAdam,Batman,Sirens,Batgirl on the way all can be hits. The Harley Quinn one might be the only flop. Jason

WW and Aquaman were hits, Joker is an "In Name Only" movie that had to hijack DC's most popular villain to have any success and Shazam was middling.

Those other ones, I won't hold my breath.

JJ Abrams? As far as I know he has nothing to do with Marvel, unless I missed a big announcement somewhere along the line.

You're the person to judge, considering how big of a Joker fan you are.

You're just making up an excuse there for an inconvenient fact that blows up your line of reasoning.

Nope, when even the Director admits that he hijacked the name it's clear it was just an "In Name Only" take so that he could have carte blanche to do whatever he wanted and have a built in audience.

Except that has absolutely jack-shit to do with whether the movie was made by DC and whether it was a success or not. The general audience doesn't care if it's Joker in name only, they care if they enjoyed the movie or not. The verdict on that seems clear - they enjoyed the movie.
