If I remember the ranks in TOS, Edward is a Lieutenant?

Interesting uniform choices with the Admirals still using the Discovery style.

he is a lieutenant, along with most of the rest of the science staff.

there's a third uniform variation in this episode that i think is interesting, a very casual athletic shirt with the regular pants and boots:

very TOS.

That was fun and quirky, a really good use of the Short Trek format.

When does the fandom menace start rending their clothes over Alitta?

One more aggravating factor in the Federation-Klingon relationship across the centuries, huh? :-)

Also, making iota Geminorum official? Nice.
It was always official wasn't it? Memory-Alpha had it as their home world before this short aired.
Yes I know they're not always accurate.

Edit: Ah it appeared on a planet chart in Keiko's classroom on DS9.

And if I remember correctly, that graphic came from an illustration Doug Drexler did for his and Geoffrey Mandel's STAR FLEET MEDICAL REFERENCE MANUAL in the mid-seventies.

Ha ha, this was funny, especially the ending.

As much as I like Spock and Number One, this Short Treks was better.

P.S. How the bloody hell did Edward EVER make it into Starfleet? He's a walking disaster and insubordinate to boot. Don't they do psych evals?

Guess not. Barclay got in and they were similar, only Barclay was less antagonistic.
And Reg had a much nicer personalty.

That maintenance dude has quite a paunch.
(so does Ed)
I guess Star Fleet science ships don't have as rigorous a fitness standard.

Also, Walmart is selling similar long sleeve shirts just like that top picture.
(without the Trek patch, obviously)
I saw one this morning while I was there.
(no red or gold though, just in teal, seagreen, blue and gray)

Of course, with this show, they probably just pulled it straight from Memory Alpha without looking to see the original source.

Given "It's onscreen it's canon" how is Memory Alpha going to deal with the commercial?

A retro late-20th/early-21st Century style commercial made in the mid-23rd Century. ;)

I'm hungry for Tribbles now. Vegans can even have fun too. They have Tofutribbles.

Some random thoughts:

* This is a Star Trek episode of Archer. A good one too.
* I see nothing wrong with Edward's plan to breed Tribbles for food. I've thought the same thing myself.
* Edward is presumably on the spectrum...or just an ass. I'm not sure which as someone on the spectrum...who is an ass.
* I think at the point the Captain reached, the beaming the Tribbles into space would have been justified under Starfleet regulations. Also, using your phasers on kill.
* Rosa Salazar didn't need her eyes modified for Alita. She looks like an anime character already (just a non-freaky and beautiful one).
* This is why genetic engineering is banned in the Federation. Screw Khan and the Augments.
* What WERE the tribbles eating? Metal?
* Are tribbles intelligent?
* As much as I love her as a Captain, the inability to control Tribbles seems like a good argument that you're not cut out for captaincy.
