Contest: ENTER Misc Avatar Contest: Behind the Eight Ball

So we are now in October, which based on the name should be the eighth month of the year. Well, of course it used to be the eighth month of the year... but somebody had to go and insert January and February in the beginning of the year, without reorganizing or renaming the subsequent months. So now we're stuck with the month named for "eight" being the tenth month of the year. As Gillian Taylor said, "Who ever said the human race was logical?"

But for this October contest, we're going to go back to the beginning, and celebr-eight all things "eight"! Your entries can be anything related to the number eight: things in a group of eight, creatures with eight appendages, eight-sided things, the number eight showing up in signs or on objects... really anything you like, as long as there is some connection to eight. The only restriction is no media images, so no Eight is Enough screencaps, sorry.

Images should be a maximum of 200 x 200 pixels and 1 MB in size. You may enter two avatars. Contest will be open for about a week, which means the poll will go up sometime after October 8.

it is like that ... when a few are out of commission or lopsided they need to be worked on.. you can just imagine all the details about each one that we would go into in order to "get better"

TBH, I briefly considered going all-in on the theme and allowing eight entries per user, but quickly realized that would be serious overkill!

dang! I told the board not to delete my old avatar but unfortunately it did. Don't have a backup for that pic now and while the original one was from a scientific publication, the pic is now listed with a photo agency and therefore watermarked. Highly annoying. It's definitely Murphy-week....

In 1979 I used an eight track recorder to record my heart beat and played it back to myself in kind of biofeedback loop... the 8 tracks was a looping tape,. Seamless..continuous
