The Last Jedi - Actually Widely Hated?

Star Tours is still going strong and takes you to planets all throughout the Canon, with cameos from C3P0, R2, Vader and I'm sure others (I've only seen a few of the 18 possible destinations in the ride). I think they should move the SW character meet and greet from the utterly lame and pointless Star Wars launch bay into one of the unused spaces at GE.

And you could still have characters like Yoda and Vader from across the franchise.

Just call it Drex Movi's Holo Encounter or something. Come meet an interactive "hologram" of some of the greatest or most notorious figures in galactic history.

Boom. Classic characters inside GE.

The point has always been about making money. Let's not pretend that Disney somehow introduced that concept to Star Wars. That's the dumbest thing ever.

The point is to give park goers a Star Wars experience as part of the ongoing story. SW does span 3 generations, but there is a story going on right now and Disney wants people to be a part of it. And guess what? Myself (one generation) and my daughters (another generation) love being a part of it and would go if money allowed.

Sorry it's not the nostalgia fest some fans want. But, given the complaining I heard around TFA as a nostalgia fest I don't think I need more nostalgia from my SW. I would like something new.

YMMV.

What planet would YOU pick, then? By your argument, you're going to be leaving someone out every time.

The beauty of Batuu is that is captures the essence of SW without literally recreating just one tiny part of it.

I seem to remember the characters going to new planets in EVERY single film. There is no definitive SW planet.

When you go to batuu, you have that same experience. You're in a strange new land with unwritten adventures lying before you.

You're not just following in someone else's footsteps or gawking at places where other stuff has already "happened."

This isn't directed at you, personally, FSM, as I've heard similar complaints a bunch, but I am amazed how small-minded some people are about this.

Like others have said, the high price really makes it hard to judge the popularity of the Sequel Trilogy overall, I'd say the books and comics would be a better judge. From everything I've seen, they are all doing very well, including the ones focused on elements from sequels.

I think the bigger issue is the droids themselves. Coming in contact with thousands of people in the course of a day might not be easy on them. Particularly for the annoying spoiled little twerp who will try to beat his $200 lightsaber against the droid because mom and dad aren't looking.

That makes me sound so old. Get off my lawn! Turn off that damn noise! Get a haircut! :p

I've not read a lot of the books (grad school [granted with 83 days until I finish, I'm senior-itising pretty hard these dayts] and a five-month old, man... take a lot of your time) but the comics have been pretty good. I've really enjoyed the flagship series, both Vader series and Poe Dameron. Some of the minis have been fun too. I am trying again to read Thrawn but I'm so tired I maybe make it through a page or two a night.

Well, they don't really "come into contact." They had one running around Disneyland as a test before GE opened. People look at it, take pics, etc.

But, just like many (most? all?) costumed characters, there's always an escort/handler to make sure they don't fall victim to that kind of abuse!

you might think that way.. but aside form the fact that the sperience is generic.. it's not what a lot of people want. People aren't going to flkock to harry potter land if Hogwarts isn't there.

not at thse prices.

Also above people called my idea of a sfx/filmmaking exhibit a museum piece.. as if I was saying that should be ALL of the park.. I meant it should be one attraction at the park... like Universe of Energy or Carousel of Progress or one of a dozen other museum rides or shows that are not only interesting, but help disperse crowds.. plus in order to keep the brand you really gotta get young people into the originals.

You've said that already. We got it.

I should have added to my initial response on this subject: Having it as a museum exhibition and travelling it around the country at local museums where prices are more reasonable is a far better use of that than keeping it in one location that is prohibitively expensive for the masses. You never know if you have a young filmmaker who doesn't have a lot of money out there who just needs some inspiration. Could be the next Spielberg or Lucas... or Johnson. (Too soon? :p) Still, the idea in general is pretty cool.
 
There was an Art of Star Wars tour that use to go around sometime in the early to mid 90s. They would bring costumes and models mostly, but also some other things of historical value (pre-production props that they didn't use, or converted the concept into something else later on). Or the Star Trek Experience that was in Nevada for a time has some props, a ride, and a replica of Quark's Bar and part of Deep Space Nine as a restaurant, with a mass of high tech looking slot machines right outside the area.

But that's not Disneyland, and certainly not an entire Land in Disneyland. You have to go with a theme and run with it for that. At least on the outside. The inside of the rides can be all different, but the exterior all has to work together.

I've been reading the flagship series and just finished up the first Darth Vader series and I've been loving them both. I read the first collection of Poe Dameron and really enjoyed it, and on the miniseries front so far I've read Han Solo, Princess Leia, Obi-Wan and Anakin, and Shattered Empire and enjoyed them all.
