Hey, I never noticed that before....

Shore Leave...

Between the scenes of Sulu’s target practice and Finnegan’s first appearance, Kirk and McCoy are walking and talking. Just in the background behind Kirk in the lower left corner is a thatched hut. Maybe that’s why the director had the camera at such an angle. You can see it much better on the DVD.

...and one of Sarek’s aides in Journey to Babel, along with Frank Vinci.
I can string a logical explanation that it is the same character in all three episodes. In our universe, he's Sarek's aide (probably a trusted friend or maybe part of the Sarek clan.) Prior to or concurrently serving as Sarek's aid, he volunteered to be part of the marriage ceremony (the executioner role may be a high honor) in service to Sarek's and Spock's clan. In the mirror universe, he's still a trusted family friend or clan member but now Spock's bodyguard. Easy-Peasy. :vulcan:

Nice. Now, can you cry like Lincoln? Or better yet, now explain how Lt. Brent became a Vulcan. :vulcan: :rommie:

That's Gerrold railing against the repetitiveness of the story device of a trite romance, not against the very concept of Kirk having a romance on an alien planet. From page 141 of my copy, the 1984 edition:
Kirk should be a starship Captain, not a cosmic womanizer. Certainly he will have love affairs, but for goodness's sake, couldn't they be mature affairs between two real live human beings? That means they should be kept in proportion to the rest of his life--as a Captain, he's going to have more problems than women. And the same should apply to the test of his crew.

That's not anti-romance or anti-love stories, that's anti-bad writing.

I've done this before, but here's my encore: "Help me, Kirk."
(I've become quite good at it. :rommie:)

 The fact that Kahless was written to be an android or Terminator-level voice impressionist is one of my favorite touches in all of Star Trek.

Awesome. I never noticed those guys before! (JTB is, quite unfairly, not an episode I've rewatched frequently over the years.) They also appear to be wearing something close to NX-01-era Starfleet uniforms.
I would hazard they are cut similarly to Sarek's outfit, just from plain material and without the brocade on the front.

The Russ Peek/Dave Perna debate goes on and on while I'd noticed that Perna/Peek appeared as the Vulcan executioner, Mirror Spock's henchman and a Vulcan aide in Babel I also noticed how Frank DaVinci looked more like Ethan Speck than Ethan did and neither are a contender to Nimoy! :vulcan:

The same audio "language" sound is made by
Yeoman Tina Lawton when Charlie X turn her into an iguana .(S1E2),
and Korob and Sylvia as they really are. (S2E7)

Waa watching Charlie X and Naked Time yesterday and noticed a couple of things.
Was one of the redshirts escorting Charlie in Charlie X wearing blue shiny pants instead of the regular black pants or is it my TV? I think it was the guy whose phaser was dissolved in his hand.
Akso in Naked Time Spock called for Rand (I think) to take over Sulus's position but it wasn't Rand. It was someone else. Are there 2 Rands on the Enterprise or was it intended to be Janice Rand and somebody stopped it (conspiracy theory) or did I just mishear.?

It appears in that one scene that he calls Mister Leslie "Ryan".
At least I've seen that written in a couple of places when they're talking about Mister Leslie they say one time McCoy called him Connor and another time spot called him Ryan.
But the real world answer maybe that Nimoy misspoke and called him Rand and they have just assumed he was saying Ryan

I think you both referring to Mr Leslie's not-quite-identical cousin, Randle "Randy" Connors ;)

Can one of our script masters tell us what Nimoy actually said? I sure though it was Rand, also. Maybe it was supposed to be changed to a different name if the actress wasn't available?
