Xena's 25th is coming soon and Lucy plans to be "there"... I assume "there" is the Creation Xena con in LA which is going to be in August next year.

Sorry to hear that, but at my stage of life I think I could handle something with less blood and guts and more lighthearted fun as this next interview suggests the new series tries to deliver.

https://www.latimes.com/entertainme.../xena-lucy-lawless-my-life-is-murder-acorn-tv

In fact that goal for lighthearted fun has drawn me to another Aussie series this summer, "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries". Phryne Fisher is my current fav heroine and I could easily see Alexa Crowe following in her footsteps if the approach is as this interview suggests..

I love the disclaimer in the beginning of the article that says when you read the interview you should imagine frequent laughter. In fact I can hear it at the end when Lucy says...

But also I was in New Zealand raising my kids. You can’t just drop them like a bloody sloth — I don’t know how sloths raise their babies, I might be completely throwing shade at sloth mothers.

When talking to the Post about her new series, Lucy again throws respect towards Linda Hamilton's New Sarah Conner and notes she's willing to do a one-off movie to turn the franchise over to a new Xena, but one not managed by her husband this time.

I love the story in this next interview about her riding an Arabian Charger in Dubai.

I was lying there going, “Oh, my God. That was awesome, because I had the experience, and I'm not that hurt. I'm sore and I'm shaken, but I didn't break my pelvis so, golden! I got away with it!

Xena's actress is a really cute walking DINOSAUR?

I'm glad to see another Miss Fisher fan, I love that show. I'm anxiously awaiting the movie that picks up where the show left off, I really hope it comes to theaters in the US.

I think the movie is supposed to be coming to Acorn TV, the same streaming service that will be showing LL's new series.

The lady in black hair saying "Her name is Crowe, Alexa Crowe with an E", is Queen Ephiny.

More about the new show, very little XWP within.

I like the first line in this next article about looking around the next courtroom you are in since you might run into Lucy Lawless "site seeing". The Xena stuff is relegated to the end of the article.

So I saw this online and I’m DYING of HAPPINESS! This is from the current comic series from Dynamite. Xena and Gabby are TOGETHER in a romantic-in-love-couple-way. After 24 years, they are cannon. :adore:

Now I’m definitely going to have to read this series!

Well, Lucy and Renee are together again.... just 2000 years after their initial pairing in XWP.

See Xena stars Lucy Lawless, Renee O'Connor reunion on My Life Is Murder | EW.com

Loved this part about their first meeting on set.

O'CONNOR: ...By the time I came out of quarantine, it was Lucy's birthday. So I snuck on set and I had my mask on and I was in the line while Lucy was getting her lunch. I wished her a happy birthday and she had no idea who I was...

LAWLESS: I didn't recognize her!

O'CONNOR: She did not have a clue! So I started singing to her in my Texas accent and she kind of looked at me and then she looked away again thinking, "Well, that's a strange person that's joined us today." I finally had to take my mask off, [and thought], Lucy c'mon! I know it's been a long time but... :guffaw:

I liked this series and look forward to its return, especially with an episode starring a redheaded Renee!

MLIM has a lot of new guest stars this year, including a famous Star Trek alum (and no, I don't mean Mulgrew! )

I've been turning the Syfy airings on for background noise the last couple weeks, but I was only catching bits and pieces, so that has inspiried me to finally star watching the whole episode. I just found it free to watch on the Roku Channel streaming service a couple weeks ago, and I started watching it today. I jumped into episode 3 since I watched the first two back when it was on Netflix.
It was good, the whole thing with Gabrielle trying to avoid killing during the tests was pretty fun, and Xena's journey through the dream passage was a nice way to explore her history and how far she's come since her time as a bad guy.

I must admit, I rarely watched Hercules' LJ's in the 90's and never watched Xena:WP. It may have been a snob thing, more likely a lack of reception thing (TV before the satellite dish came was pretty hit or miss where I grew up), but Xena never made it on my viewing list.

This summer, I started a topic about strong female characters from the 1990's in the Voy forum, and got quite an education from a fellow poster. So much so that I picked up all 6 seasons and plowed through them this fall.

Except for a few stinkers ("Married with Fishsticks" comes unwelcome to my mind even as I type) I have to say that I'm impressed.

Anyone else watch it in first run/or on reruns and have any thoughts they'd like to share?

I was a casual viewer, but enjoyed it a lot more than the "Hercules" show... I recall it as being an engaging mix of camp and seriousness... have been meaning to revisit it. After my "Lost Girl" marathon (seasons 1-3) I'll probably get back to it...

I loved Xena and was even a member of a tiny corner of it's fandom (the Gabrielle/Joxer Romantics Society). I wrote fanfic even! It was hella fun and I saw Bruce and Ted at a con in Mesa and they were *wonderful*.

People forget that Xena overlapped with Buffy & Angel in their original runs. It constantly frustrated me that Xena refused to develop any characters other than Xena and Gabby at *the same time* Buffy and Angel were showing how good it could be. :brickwall:

Xena and Hercules used to do clip shows well; with them setting it in modern day and that they were developing the show while at the same time, the characters of Xena and Hercules were real.

Did Xena and Gabrielle ever become an official couple on the show, or was that purely a fan thing?

I really liked the journey Gabrielle undertakes during this series, from annoying tagalong to Xena's helpful squire, to young Lieutenant, to counselor, to full fledged warrior.

It can be argued that while its called "Xena, Warrior Princess", its really about Gabrielle from Potadeia.

Found a recent article about the show that's worth the read.

Looks like looper.com has Xena on the mind. ;)

TV Reboots That We Would Love To See Happen (looper.com)

This was just fun to read.

'Xena: Warrior Princess' taught me how to be a powerful woman - Macleans.ca

Love how it ends...
I work as a conflict resolution consultant and mediator. I literally wrote a book about choosing love in response to hatred and violence. Yet something within me still yearns to strap on some armour, grab a sword and scream a bloodcurdling war cry—and look good doing it. Like Xena, I contain contradictions. I want to overturn this wretched, oppressive world, and heal it at the same time.

I have to agree with Lucy on the salient argument against rebooting.

Lucy Lawless Comments on Possible Xena: Warrior Princess Reboot last November.

(comicbook.com)

Lawless says that there have been attempts but, thus far, they haven't been able to find a way to improve on the original series. And who wants to bother with a reboot if it isn't taking what was good about the original series and making it better?

Can't post something after all this time, without talking about Lucy and Renee!

Lucy Lawless & Renee O'Connor Talk 'Xena' Reunion on 'My Life Is Murder' (tvinsider.com)

I did enjoy seeing Renee play the villain for once and "not" because she's been possessed by a demon!
