It's amazing work — you've hit all the visual cues of the Reliant while also making it fit in with the '60s Trek style of smooth surfaces and simple lines. And that last pic...

Slow to one-half impulse power. Let's be "friends".
I've worked all day polishing the crap out of this lady and I'm very tired, but I've managed to take the final screenshots before I let my exhaustion take me.
Here she is, the U.S.S Buenos Aires NCC-1660 from the Vanguard series of novels. I originally wanted to go with the Bombay (also from Vanguard), but Prologic9 depicted that specific Miranda with his take and I also wanted to pay tribute to the wonderfully talented @Rekkert, who resides in Buenos AiresA reminder that I went with a very non-greeble approach to her and wanted to stick with the 11-foot Enterprise filming model detialing, therefore I didn't add any visible weapons or gratuitous paneling, relief, or specular variation.
^That's a ball-mounted tractor beam emitter on the rear of the deflector pod, similar to the one I modeled for the TOS Enterprise hangar bay.
Let me know what you think! This certainly was a challenge designing all the details that differentiate it from the TMP Miranda, and trying my hardest to set mine apart from other artists who've taken this project on. I'm happy with most of what I've done, but felt I could've come up with something more interesting for the aft portion of the bottom of the saucer. Anyway, I wanted to wrap her up today so after trying a few different configurations I decided to just go with what I've got.
And with that, I'll just leave this here

You can’t haveThough looking at that image more, I also want to say how much I love you putting the TOS shuttlebay "meatball" under all your hatches.
While I sympathize with this concern, I have to admit I REALLY like the Starfleet arrowheads on top of the roll bar as I have them. I know it's a little confusing them when viewing them from the front, but I like how it looks too much to remove it now. Also, I purposefully did not place similar pennants on the pylons (as with the TMP Miranda) simply because there are already large pennants on the nacelles, and having pennants on both the nacelles and pylons would be a little overkill for my tastes.Looks great! The only thing that bugs me is the pennants on the rollbar pointing sideways. I get the need for there to be something up there, but I feel in my bones that Starfleet arrowheads and racing stripes should always point forward, and the three-stripe pennant would make more sense above the nacelles, like in the refit version. As for what goes on the rollbar... those pylon vents looked pretty sharp on version "B" from a vew pages ago. Or maybe some gray/red outline boxes and yellow blocks, or the registry number, as on the original. Maybe it'd look more TOS-y with the name on the opposite side of the rollbar, but upside-down.
Are you referring to the green, orange, and red rectangular lights below each hangar hatch?Though looking at that image more, I also want to say how much I love you putting the TOS shuttlebay "meatball" under all your hatches.
That's the "Tail Pipe Socket Adjustment Access" label that's on the TOS Enterprise filming model near where the nacelle pylons meet the engineering hull. Figured I needed to include it somewhere ;pI like that you added a thin separation line on the rollbar, great touch! Also, I can see there's a little sign on the deflector pod, below the pylon connection. Hiding little easter eggs?![]()
This is what I get when fighting exhaustion and continuing to work on a project. Mistakes like theseThe only thing that stands out is that there seems to be a double space between "U.S.S." and "Buenos", when compared to the space between "Buenos" and "Aires". Could that be the case, or just my eyes deceiving me?
Probably the Antares / Robot Grain ship we saw in TOS Remastered/TAS respectively. But we'll see.Whatever you do next, I can't wait to see it, whenever you feel like doing it of course.![]()
You'll be pleased to hear that I've done some fiddling this morning and I've successfully found a way to take nice orthographic renders! It will require a bit of setup but I've started a process of bringing everything into Substance Painter when finished (including windows and decals) so I can take high-res, high-quality, well-lit renders from there. Stay tuned!Hey wait (said I in mock irritation) those look a lot like orthographic views!
Yay, I would love to see you build the Antares. I always had a soft spot for the TAS inspired ship designs.Probably the Antares / Robot Grain ship we saw in TOS Remastered/TAS respectively. But we'll see.
Are you referring to the green, orange, and red rectangular lights below each hangar hatch?
I learn something new everyday! I hate to admit how little I know about the analogies between real-life navy systems and Trek ships...and my father is a Master Shipbuilder!Yep, after the alignment guide lights on aircraft carriers.
This is what I get when fighting exhaustion and continuing to work on a project. Mistakes like theseYes, you are seeing correctly. I accidentally had a double-space between "U.S.S." and "Buenos" because there's a double-space between "U.S.S." and "Enterprise", but because this is my first double-worded ship name I didn't think to make sure there were either two spaces between "Buenos" and "Aires" or just do single spaces bewtween all three. Dammit. That's going to bug me until I take new renders!
