The last thing I'm going to say on this is that I am really not bullying you. I am trying to help you because I think you may be someone who could be helped. So I suggest not responding for a few days. Discuss your viewpoints with a few women in your life and then really listen to what they have to say.

I am sorry if you felt I was bullying you but I am at the point where I am tired completely of reading racist and sexist commentaries on this board and trying to treat them as normal.

From your posts, I don't think that at heart you are racist or sexist, but your posts do demonstrate some issues that you should really deal with by talking to a professional.

My country is pretty strict about hate speech and acts toward groups of people. At my work, if you were to come into my office and say the things you have said across various posts in the discussion and other threads, I would be by policy and law required to open a threat assessment file on your case. If you were a minor I would be required to call your parents/guardians; if you are an adult I would be required to speak to your union rep.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions of course, but when those opinions could threaten the rights and freedoms of others then that is when the opinions become extreme and acting on or voicing those opinions becomes illegal in several democracies.

I am done responding to your posts at this point. Maybe in the future we can begin to have interesting and fun discussions about this genre of fiction that we both enjoy.

EDIT: To clarify, in this post I am not equating mental illness with violent behavior--as I know that the majority of those people with mental illness are victims rather than perpetrators despite the current rhetoric by both politicians and some media outlets. See article: https://cmha.ca/news/harmful-words-...xrws5zN0-qGXNSMs_Ip8DNUKqVI1cdBHXK5geHbT2M52c

You are a numpty and your country sounds like a terrible nanny state.

Goodbye

I wonder what people would say about either one of those scenes if Carol Danvers had been the protagonist rather than Clark Kent.

I also was remembering that I saw Black Panther while I was working in West Africa. We had a special showing in English, in fact. The buffoonery of Martin Freeman drew uproarious laughter from the crowd throughout the movie. I remember feeling slightly uncomfortable being one of the only white guys in the audience. Should I have hated the film because of that?

Oh, wait. That's not Captain Marvel... Now I'm confused.

Well see the difference is those people in Africa have been genuine victims of western colonialism. Many of them have likely grown up in war zones and extreme poverty and are truly oppressed. Still the west is going in trying to eradicate their native culture and beliefs and replace them with ours.

If only we could make them akin to us, a society of whinging, consumerist hedonists, with zero respect for family values and total reliance on the state. Can they also sell their souls for the almighty $$$

Most feminist SJW's on the other hand are trust fund babies from the burbs' who are oppressed by a guy glancing in their direction as the walk down their swanky local Boulevard. Or they are deeply wounded that the US women's football team don't get paid as much as men despite generating 1/10 the revenue.

So we have a group of real victims, and a bunch of Muppets who know precisely zero about real opression.

Not really a comparison is it.

Show us on the doll where the mean nasty lady touched you.

I would be happier watching this film if it wasn't so (literally) dark in places. Was the lighting budget very small? :brickwall:

I hated that scene in Man of Steel. A lot. But the scene in Captain Marvel doesn't bother me one little bit. So now I don't know what to think. :)

I have to admit @Infern0, I'm really surprised to see the kind of attitudes you appear to have coming from a black, gay woman.

Why?

I don't have an issue where I need to pretend to be a victim of men or that I'm held down by that.

As I've said many a time I don't belive white women are held down at all, a little infantilized maybe, generally the way I see it. Of course there's exceptions, I'm not saying no white woman has ever been through something bad or been abused.

There's victims in this world, they are everywhere, real victims. The issue I have is most of the people who act like they care about these causes don't care about the real victims. It's either middle classed white women just wanting something to complain about or celebrities adressing us from their ivory towers before they go back inside for another cocaine hit.

If people want to solve things then the right people need to speak on this and the people we have talking on it now, most of them need to sit down.

Maybe it's just me, but that doesn't really seem to line up with the attitudes you've expressed earlier.

Well, they were going for dark. But yeah, that scene sucked, as did that movie.

The real difference between Marvel and these other examples isn’t her gender, it’s how much she enjoyed it (in the deleted scene, I had no problem with the theatrical cut).

I have no problem with either scene, and I have to strongly disagree Captain Marvel 'enjoyed' it more than other examples. She took two seconds to be sarcastic and then walked away. Take another look at that Christopher Reeve clip someone posted and tell me how he wasn't enjoying himself subjecting that guy to multiple power displays while mugging for an audience the entire time.
