For CBS, nothing really changes, they already owned everything including the Kelvin Timeline movies.
They can probably just make their own movies now.

I doubt they'll change the name as they've spent 4 years trying to build name recognition.

For sure they will add Viacom related content to CBS AA, so they may get the Nickelodeon animated Trek show too. But going from a video on demand service to one that offers TV channels is a major change, though it does make sense in order to compete with other major streaming services. But there were also predictions that CBS would merge CBS AA with their showtime streaming service and they never did that.

Just like Warner is using HBO as the name under which they are doing thei streaming, CBS really should use the showtime name.

Viacom was working on a service. Forget the name but one was being worked on.

I think they'd be looking to by ViacomCBS for the IPs/content libraries, not for the TV networks. I just specified companies that don't own networks because companies that already do (like Disney, AT&T, etc.) legally cannot own more than one broadcast network.

    No, it's not.
Not everyone is Streaming is huge numbers as yet, and hell to this date most Streaming services have yet to make a lot (if any profit - yes, it's true) as it's all going back into producing shows to try and get more subscribers.

The CYA is already starting! The latest from MegaRando is telling us excuses why the so-called 25% won't be repealed.

I know this is basically a meme at this point, but can someone explain the 25% thing? If it has anything to do with the youtubers who I will not name, than ignore this post, but why 25%?

Some time ago John Eaves made a post on facebook, claiming that the Enterprise on Discovery had to look 25% different from the TOS one for legal reasons, (a post which he later deleted, which lead to speculation on wether CBS forced him to delete it, to keep the public from the truth or whatever). Since DSC has since used actual footage from The Cage, I don't think anyone still seriously says the 25% ting. At least I hope.

Ok. It just seemed like such an arbitrary number that if it really was a rule, it was a weird rule.

I still think it was done more for marketing reasons than anything else. E.g., they wanted to be able to sell toys of the Discoprise, and figured no one would buy them if the design was identical to the original Enterprise.

Or he deleted it because he realized he was wrong, or someone explained to him that he was wrong.

Problem is, apart from Eaglemoss producing models, nobody makes any Trek ship toys.

Her voice is grating. I started listening to some video she posted today but I just couldn't do it to myself.

And now Dumbcock is changing his tune, claiming that Bad Robot has infected Star Trek like a sexually transmitted disease (or something--I gave up on his ridiculous video).
