No ridicule. For pictures, click the ‘image’ icon, the one that looks like a photo of mountains and the sun, just to the right of the smiley icon. Then paste in the URL of the image, and click ‘insert’. (Just remember to make sure it’s from a site you own, or a dedicated image hosting service.) It has to be the URL of the actual JPEG, GIF, PNG, etc, not the URL of the page where the image is located. For videos, click the ‘media’ icon, the one that looks like a film strip, just to the right of the image icon. Then paste in the URL from YouTube (or other supported site) and click ‘embed’. Note that although pictures will show in your editor box right away, videos will only show as the address until you post the message. That’s really all there is to it. HTH.

I used to use Photobucket until they got a case of H.U.A. They did change things back, except now they watermark if you embed your images to another site (i.e., Trek-BBS). I switched over to IMGUR. While it has its flaws, at least it doesn't watermark your stuff.
I switched from Photobucket to IMGUR as well. It's pretty basic but it does what I need it to do. It's very easy to use. The only thing you need to remember is that, when posting to the BBS, you don't use the image icon; you just directly post the BB code into the post.
I always use the image icon on Trek-BBS. You have to copy the Direct Link, not the Image Link, from IMGUR. I've never done it, but as @auntiehill said, you can copy the BBCode link from IMGUR and simply CTRL-V paste that into your text. Either way should work.
I also switched from PB when they pulled their little stunt. (Wonder how that worked out for them, lol.) But I went with PostImage. It’s very, very basic, but it does what it needs to, and I haven’t felt the need to go anywhere else. There are a lot of hosting services out there. This question gets asked from time to time in QSF, so if you do a search there, you’ll probably find some other recommendations too.
It's really not hard at all. The tricky part is uploading your image to the hosting site. Dropping the link here is easy.
