The antagonists' plans are just being made up as they go along. Seems so odd with only 3 episodes to go.

Of course, our heroes aren't necessarily solely aimed at fighting bad guys, their main goal is, you know, world peace or whatever.

The Don E Roman e subplot is so bad....

Story threads and characters are picked up and dropped randomly as they go. It's bad.

Worst, most wasted, unplanned final season ever.

So, did Don E's girlfriend die of her disease, or did Blaine kill her?

The question occurred to me, and the more I think about it, the more inclined I am to the latter interpretation. Blaine was having serious cash flow problems and had just lost his brain-disease kidnap victims, so she was the only one left that he had access to. So he certainly had motive and opportunity, and he presumably has a number of means available to kill someone undetectably.

It feels like most of the important stuff is happening off screen, and major plot points are just being told to us on words, while the narrative makes huge jumps in status quo without showing us any of it.

The last episode could have bee stretched into 3. This all should be going on around episode 7 or 8, not 12. They've squandered what should have been an epic final season.

I think part of it is just that they don't have the budget to show the big action scenes, so they have to just talk about them or have the big explosion or firefight happen just off camera.

Ravi losing the tainted utopium and being unable to get more and the entire set up for the oceans 11 caper seemed to come out of left field. It all just seems to be missing a lot of narrative connecting tissue this season in general.

Meh, I watch this show for its fun lightheartedness and this season is certainly delivering on that score. This week's episode especially so. I'm going to miss this show when it's gone.

Okay, there was a pretty big plot hole in that cliffhanger and 10-year jump. If that explosion destroyed the morgue... and Ravi's cure-making equipment was in the morgue, and he didn't have time to make more than one dose... then why didn't the explosion destroy the cure?

Also, there were far too many fakeout deaths -- first Peyton, then Major, then Liv. It got repetitive. And if they were going to pin the finale on Liv and Major living in hiding for 10 years, they could've put a bit of effort into explaining why they did so. I guess it was so they could live in peace without being hounded by the media and government and fanatics and such, but that was a little vague.

And this finale really underlined how peripheral Liv became to her own show these past couple of seasons. She didn't really accomplish much in the finale. Don E. cheated her out of her final confrontation with Blaine, because Peyton set him off. Peyton helped the kids escape. Ravi and Major defeated Enzo. And Dolly just vanished into the woodwork. Liv didn't get to beat any of the big bads; she just reacted and cried at fake deaths and sort of hovered around until a happy ending was handed to her. What a disappointing ending.

It is rather convenient that five years of Liv eating brains of murder victims and getting visions of their lives she never once saw any of their murders, a fact that was even lampshaded a few times over the course of the series. Yet Peyton becomes a zombie and the very first brain she eats giver her a vision of the murder of the person the brain belonged to.

And that whole thing of turning US senators and congressmen into zombies earlier in the season didn't go anywhere.

That was so improbably convenient that I wondered whether Peyton really saw that vision or was just saying that was what she saw in order to goad Don E. into turning on Blaine. Did she know about the death of Don E's fiancee and guess that Blaine did it? Is that a possibility?

Oh yeah, I forgot about that bit. So did they, evidently.

All in all, a disappointing lack of focus or coherency to the final season. And it's ironic that in a show called iZombie, the original, central zombie became essentially a peripheral character in the last couple of seasons and little more than a spectator in the series finale.

I thought about that. And while it doesn't seem any of the "good guy" characters learn on screen what happened, I guess it's not too much of a stretch to infer that word might have reached them that Don E's wedding was imminent, and that the wedding was unexpectedly and tragically cancelled due to his bride being found dead, one wonders if word circulated that she was found dead in her wedding dress? I guess it's not unreasonable, and indeed people might assume so anyway simply because it was her wedding day.

Another thing, couldn't Blaine and Don E theoretically escape from the well? Blaine's dad was only stuck there because his feet were in a cement block, but the two of them aren't so encumbered, and the well looks narrow enough they could probably stretch out and scooch upwards. Even if that's not an option, one or both could still have their cell phones on them and call for assistance. Certainly the Scratching Post or whatever it's called now must still have someone there who'd be inclined to help them. Though I guess it's just as likely the two of them would end up fighting each other to death before thinking of escape.

I loved the first three seasons, though ironically used to wish for more ongoing plot and less stand-alones. I struggled through season four and gave up on season five after a few episodes. I did watch the finale and kinda wish I hadn't.

So the person who should have been the big bad of the entire series gets pushed down a well halfway through. (And not even by Liv.)

That leaves the guy with the world's worst French accent and the Trump supporter filling the roles. He gets killed by some random minor character and, incredibly, despite killing countless people including her son and almost the entire police department, she gets away free and clear.

And as for that ending; spending eternity as parents to a bunch of un-aging children would be my idea of hell...

I respected this show's attempt to grow from a case-of-the-week secret-superhero zom-rom-com into something more epic and ambitious. The power of science fiction is to explore how innovation and new phenomena affect human society, so shows that keep their genre elements hidden to maintain a "real world" status quo are rarely as interesting to me as shows that let the genre elements have a real, transformative impact on the world. So I love what iZombie tried to do. Unfortunately, it seems, the producers just weren't up to the challenge of making it work. They failed to find a good way to make their lead character relevant to the very different thing the show had become, and they introduced too many threads of the larger story that they were unable to juggle successfully, so they let many of them fall by the wayside.

Although I think the show started to lose its way even before then, when the brain-of-the-week plots ceased to be about informing and shaping whatever personal issues Liv was going through that week and instead the brain personas just completely overwrote Liv's own personality so that there was nothing left of her, and she barely had any personality or story arcs of her own.

I don't understand why anyone had to stay a zombie, considering zombism seemed to be a cure all, as shown with Peyton in the last episode. This whole final season lurched around like a Romero zombie. No build up or payoff to anything.

The idea seemed to be that people with fatal genetic conditions would start dying again once they were cured of the zombie virus. Which I guess makes sense -- if it's in your genes, then it couldn't be permanently cured, just held at bay -- but it did seem to come out of left field, since I don't recall them establishing it before.

I don't know why it would keep anyone from aging, either, since it is just a virus, and not magic. I could accept slowed down aging but not forever-kids like vampire stories. Doesn't seem like a great life to me...

This whole season was random left field disconnected threads with no setup or foreshadowing.

As mentioned, genetic ailments would necessitate remaining zombie. Plus, there were undoubtedly "proud zombies" who wouldn't want to revert back. I noticed they didn't say what happened to Filmore-Graves in the ten years later bit, I guess we're meant to infer they pretty much folded up after the cure was distributed?
Yeah, those "kids" would be in their twenties in the epilogue scene but since they still look like they're twelve, no one's going to hire them for jobs, they can't enter bars, and they need adult accompaniment to see any movie rated higher than G.

The way they dispatched Blaine really felt like the network wouldn't allow him to be killed off. Since it's trendy to bring back TV shows from the dead, I wonder if they didn't want too much finality just in case they want to bring the show back in 10 years or so.

Also, am I crazy or did they show that Liv's father had some kind of weird metal head under his wig? I seem to remember them showing that earlier in the season. Also when Frenchie BadAccent shot him a few episodes ago I thought there was a "clang" noise and his "death" was meant to be a fake out. But I guess not since he never showed up again.

And were we supposed to know who the suicide bomber was or was it just meant to be some rando from the human/zombie war?
