Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths to be 5-Part Crossover

Sucks that they won’t be allowed to use Batman in this because of “reasons”.
They don't need Batman. Part of the appeal of the Arrowverse for me is that it showcases the parts of the DC Universe that get overshadowed by DCs "Big Three". I'm happy with Superman being a supporting character and Batman being an urban legend and Wonder Woman (and Green Lantern) only alluded to.

From what I recall, Batman doesn't have that big a role in COIE. Plus the Earth 1 Batman is AWOL, not sure about the Earth 38 one. In related news it looks like Arrow season 8 is going to serve to an extent as a lead-in to COIE.

Here's an interesting interview with him that shows just how much he knows about the comics and the character. I particularly interested in what he had to say about how faithful they were trying to stay to the storyline:

He's also allegedly playing the Anti-Monitor. This is from Marc Guggenheim's Twitter feed:

ETA: That makes me wonder if they've ever done a "It's A Wonderful Life" riff with Batman? Where would all the people who's lives he touched be without him?
That brings to mind a 1979 Batman Family story that, now that I think about it, had a "City on the Edge of Forever" vibe to it. Batman and Robin visit a parallel Earth where Bruce Wayne is still a kid whose parents haven't been murdered yet. Robin discovers that this version of Bruce is a spoiled brat and, IIRC, argues that maybe they shouldn't interfere with what's going to happen, because it will make Bruce the man that he is. Ultimately Batman does prevent the murder of his counterpart's parents, but that encounter with Batman is what inspires the younger version of Bruce.

"To Kill a Legend" by Alan Brennert and Dick Giordano, from Detective Comics #500 in 1981. A classic.

Huh. Must've been getting that conflated with something else in my memory. I would've sworn that I'd specifically read that in the place that my family was temporarily living in the summer of '79.

This was collected in those DC Digests that were sold at Supermarket checkouts as one of the top ten stories of the year. Great one shot story. As Christopher says, classic.

The more I read about this, the more it looks like the story WILL involve collapsing the different earths into one New Earth.
