Just have to hope season three has some kind of vision and a unified hierarchy that can make something more consistent.

We've been arguing about Spock being the first Vulcan in Starfleet for twenty years. Where have you been at?

Twenty years? You must be a late starter.

Would folks go see a Pike-centric movie?

If it was Chris Pike, sure. Zebulon Pike, not so much.

Neither here nor there: in the age of 3D printing, which I'm sure they use on the show, I would've liked to have seen a variety of Starfleet badges like we did in TOS. Even though they were a mistake by all accounts, they made Starfleet seem large and diverse.

Do you think there will be all kinds of historical records available in the future or will it be so dystopian that everything was lost? If the first was the case, it would give Georgiou a big advantage when she goes back in time again and works for Section 31. Though it would also mean that if she uses her knowlegde she would just create a different future timeline and the DIS characters won't be in the future of Picard's, Janeway's, etc. timeline anymore as they all lived after Georgiou changed the future.

It's just a personal preference, but if the series went for a fallen Federation setting, I'd very much like to see things like the Kyrian reconstruction of Voyager from Living Witness; not the Federation's portrayal as villains per se, but rather all the wildly inaccurate guesses that happen all the time in archaeology and historiography. Saru liberating his people could transcend into a new Kelpien creation myth (perhaps complete with his image being conflated with the Red Angel), historians could argue how many Enterprises there actually were and which one Picard was the captain of, or maybe there could even be some who'd argue that Picard and Sisko are just different names for the same person, and so on. There might even be a whole industry built on scavengers searching through centuries-old shipwrecks, trying to glean whatever useful data they can from the computer cores. Probably not what the majority would like to see, but I'd find a setting like this very interesting.

I definitely like your idea more than the Federation is evil version we might get based on the Calypso Short Trek episode. I just think it would be really sad to see the Federation fail in this way. They would fail in my opinion if they lose all their morals. It is too pessimistic for my taste for Star Trek. If they go the dystopian route I rather wish the Federation wouldn't exist anymore because of an outside force, a war they lost. That is sad enough, but at least humans as a race wouldn't make a step back again when it comes to moral values.

Well, she confirmed the exact number of years in the future it is... 930.

I like that she suggests they’re continuing the season two tone. Season two was a big improvement over season one.

Interesting that she confirms they’re not coming back to the 23rd century. Let’s see if that sticks. Seems like Georgiou, at least, would need to return for the Section 31 spin-off.

Could be rethinking that whole premise. If nothing else, I think a show centered on Georgiou trying to build an empire in the 31st century would be far more interesting. Taking the premise from the end of "Space Seed" of building an empire out of the wilderness.

I could like that, actually. Would rather see that than her heading up a Section 31 spinoff with the non-entity of Ash Tyler.

Section 31 in a period we're not familiar with would fix one problem the series would've had: we already know the "geopolitical" situation of the Alpha Quadrant for the next 35 years. All the way up to TUC. A lot of it can be "classified" and covert, but eventually something has to happen that would threaten to shake up the Galaxy At Large at a more visible level.

The only real mystery is how L'Rell gets taken out of the picture, to make war between the Federation and the Klingons a constant risk. But you don't really need a Section 31 Series to do that. They want her in charge but, if she isn't, they failed. I don't know if the producers want the series being about them failing at their mission. Whereas in a Pike Series, they could just have L'Rell taken out and have her replaced by a Chancellor who doesn't like the Federation, and will rattle sabers to show their street cred, but still doesn't think it's viable to go to war. And it wouldn't be anything that makes Pike look bad, just the Klingons, who would've taken a turn for the worse but not to the point of "Battle at the Binary Stars" worse.
