So we are getting a mix of kelvinverse and TNG romulans in Picard??

The Romulans in 09, at least some of them, I dunno about all had enlarged brows, some of the ones in this trailer appear to have that too, but not all of them.

We're in TNG era. TNG style makes sense to continue forward with.

The biggest blunder TNG made -- aside from retconning "no nuclear war" -- was giving Romulans ridges. There was no reason to do so, and in fact it flies in the fact of the fact TOS established that Romulans and Vulcans are visibly indistinguishable.

Romulans didn't have ridges in TOS, TAS, the TOS movies, and ST'09. TNG is the outlier.

Voluntarily, not because of the augment virus?

Oh God, please let's never mention the augment virus again.

To be fair, 90% of the Romulans we saw in TOS were wearing helmets that covered their foreheads. There's nothing to say they didn't have ridges. Besides, even in TNG it's obvious non-ridged Romulans must exist. In Unification Spock walks publicly on the streets of Romulus with his ridgeless forehead visible for all to see. And no one was like "Dude, where's your ridges?"

Then Kelvin definitely doesn't deserve it, since it's not bad. Nor would I say that ENT deserves, even though I consider that to be a poor addition to the franchise.

No, they don't deserve it. Sorry, they don't.

How do bad shows not deserve criticism? What kind of koombaya bullshit is this? It's not elementary school art class where everyone's project is "good." Professionals who get paid handsomely and who, in turn, spend massive amounts of money to make TV and films can and should do better.

There have been plenty of bad Trek shows that absolutely deserve to have their feet held to the fire for being the shoddy products that they were.

Sorry, bad product deserves all the criticism it gets.

It would have made the reveal in Balance of Terror rather less impactful if Romulans had ridges. The fact that they had them in Enterprise as well only confuses the matter.

I took "punching bag" to mean gratuitous negativity, rather than criticism relevant to a topic at hand. The former gets quite tedious, especially as we each have our subjective views as to what a "bad product" is.

You mean Discovery didn't invent contradicting canon??
