I've noticed a few technological improvements to core things by this point in time.

The transporter effects are FAR faster then previously.

Originally, the transporter effect in the All Good Things alternate future timeline had transporters
    ~3 secs for (De-Materialization)
~1-4 secs for transport (Depending on distance)
    ~3 secs for (Re-Materialization)

Here in the "ST:P - SDCC trailer", the (Re-Materialization) phase happens REALLY fast
From all the shots I've seen and estimated with frame by frame calculations:
(Re-Materialization) could happen as fast as 1/3 sec (no general movement) to 1 sec (falling backwards towards the ground because you were kicked off a high set of stairs)

If the "Re-Materialization" is that fast, I'm assuming "De-Materialization" is about the same speed as well.
The whole process could potentially take < 1.0 sec from Beginning to End if the distance is short enough.

Floating Holographic screens seems to be the norm. I'm generally fine with this.

I'm not too fond of the new ComBadge design.

That alien like Beam Pistol that slid forward from the assailants arm was cool.

Picard's Phaser Pistol that he had at his Chateau was nice and elegant. Very "French" styled of the early 1900-1940's in terms of pistol design with swoopy curves.

What else did you notice tech wise?

Sees to be a long term trend to speed up the transporter cycle as Trek time passes.

I would also consider some of the visual FX as temporary, as the show isn't out for at least another 5-6 months. It will probably be improved, or even replaced.

It appears to be the All Good Things design, just minus the upper left and right corners.

That's kind of a shame, I'd grown quite fond of the 30th anniversary-style guesstimate badges people were already 3D printing and selling on Instagram.

Yet the TNG era badge is shown unchanged. I just wonder whether this will extend to other stuff. The uniforms have subtly evolved, the LCARS graphics more extensively so, and they have every right to. But some spacecraft designs from twenty years back ought to remain, and the new ones ought to bear at least some resemblance. So, will they? No doubt vehicle exteriors will be among the last things to be rendered, with the few exceptions here.

The Romulan ships certainly work as a "lineage" thing. It's just that at this time and age, even Trek starships might be expected to fly in a plausible attack formation when moving en masse. These guys are in excellent position to shoot each other in the back. Although perhaps that is the preferred Romulan combat formation?

So, the Romulans are into the Borg now. Are they simply mining a derelict for random tech goodies, or do they have more extensive goals (time travel, say)? Did they gain this hulk back in "The Neutral Zone" when "matters more urgent caused [their] absence", or is it a more recent thing? And... Hugh? (And Seven, yay!)

Seems like all the stuff here is from the pilot episode, rather than from across the first season: character introduction, a visitor to Picard's chateau who gets himself killed so that the audience understands Picard must get moving, gathering of the posse... No hint of the face of the enemy yet, though. (That is, none of the faces we saw appeared antagonistic.)

I like those transporters a lot; I just wonder if they were there all along in the 2260s already, or are supposed to be a novelty in the 2390s or so. (A quarter of a century after ST:NEM specifically, rather than after the superhypernova, say, seems to be our going definition for the date now, right?)

I was a bit disappointed we didn't get to see any actual Starfleet ships. But I like the look of this, and the glimpses we got of almost 25th century Earth. In particular, I wonder what kind of building we're seeing at 0:34 in the trailer. It looks like an old department store with multiple TVs showing Picard. I can't post a picture, but maybe someone else can?

That signage of "xxxx days since an assimilation" was in both English and Romulan. Joint international project in progress?

It's multiple holograms not TV's. It looks like they're playing an interview with him, probably because it's the 15th anniversary of his rescue mission.

Found them. The middle ones especially look awesome.

Yep, in proportion to people's shorter attention-spans.

How on earth did the modern, attention-span-deprived human survive the 3-hour Avengers: Endgame?

Oh wait, you're yelling at clouds.

i am intrigued by the update LCARS design:
faithful to the TNG era but refined, simplified, and best of all not blue.

i also appreciated that the holographic displays on the other ship are predominantly orange.

White with red highlights on black. Love it.

A little afraid it's going to become the new ubiquitous blue/transparent, but that's a worry for another day.

It's very 60s (the colors, not the lcars), and I first noticed it (recently) prominently appearing in the most recent Mission Impossible in various UI forms, then little appearances in other things (it's one of many UI styles in the recent SW films), but my quite anecdotal experience tells me it's gaining traction and rightly so.

Also very happy that the Okuda shapes are back!

There also appears to be a star chart to the right, complete with colour coded Romulan, Klingon and Federation space. Maybe even Cardassian space, there is some yellow/gold on the left side. They seem to be following Starcharts/Stellar Cartography books again.

just as an addendum to my earlier post - here's the potentially federation civilian UI:
there's still some okuda-like shapes here, orange, blue, and white buttons (seen here)... but again predominantly orange which is a nice change as far as genre film and television goes and a way to distinguish it from discovery's blue 23rd century interfaces.

    and the romulan UI:

no wonder this show is rumored to be the most expensive series ever, if late 24th century computers are largely holographic, this must really blow up the budget.

Should civilian software UI be anything like Starfleet UI? Does it depend on whether Starfleet has the most advanced OS or just most stable mil harder one?

in the real world, no there's no reason they should be related. as a fictional universe, yes the UIs should be related to give each culture a coherent identity, but not so identical as to make them monolithic like many star trek cultures have been in the past.

After some 30 to 40 years, and that Starfleet was using that UI for research facilities, colony administration, and on starships with civilians onboard...it probably trickled out to the masses

Still wonder if Stafleet should have the most advanced OS, or the most reliable and hardened?

...Or the "just barely good enough for the job" sort, as opposed to the "bells and whistles and extra muscle and robustness" types preferred by civilian folks who are in a position to choose (and have their lives directly depend on them, rather than having an organization to fall back on / sue)?

Or then the guards are having sadistic fun with both UFP and Romulan prisoners / guinea pigs, even when the UFP only contributes prisoners, not guards.

It seems the Romulan guards have curved-contour guns similar to the late TNG style, possibly matching the curved shapes of the assassin gun emerging from the forearm in the let's-fail-in-killing-the-mystery-girl scene, and hinting at the affiliation of the assassins. Me likes.
