From AxaMonitor Daily
:
  • Cease & desist! Alec Peters enlists a Nevada lawyer to shut down AxaMonitor. This follows the serious allegations of Peters’ treatment of the widow of Emmy-winning Trek VFX artist Gary Hutzel in our story about the sale of Hutzel’s Enterprise model from DS9’s classic, “Trials and Tribble-ations.” Read Peters’ allegations against AxaMonitor in the copy of the letter in AxaMonitor Daily.
  • Want a little primer on libel law, since Peters is warning AxaMonitor we could be sued for defamation?
  • Wondering whether Peters ever repaid the $18,000 he owes his former trusted counselor, Axanar PR director Mike Bawden, by June 30, as he promised. We wonder, too, since any settlement in Peters’ legal dispute with former Axanar director Robert Meyer Burnett apparently hinged on Bawden forgiving Peters’ debt. How realistic was that expectation?
  • A date’s been set for the auction of the collection of the defunct Trekcetera Museum in Drumheller, Alberta. Peters’ company, Propworx (the same that dealt with Mrs. Hutzel) is handling the online auction. What are the two schemes Peters has in mind for his earnings from that auction?
Short Takes
  • The Federal’s been burgled!
  • How long’s it likely to take for Axanar surrogate Jonathan Lane to complete the $19,500 crowdfunding campaign for the Axanar fan film, “Interlude”? The stalwart writer of the MTM blog explores some possible scenarios.

Really? Ripping off a widow? That's just the lowest.

Blog post on FanFilmFactor on what is the point of no return for the Interlude campaign:

I love how he tells us not to make suggestions about what he should cut.

Tell you what, Jonny, you stop "suggesting" what Alec's detractors should be doing with their lives and we'll leave you and your brilliant producers to that task of figuring out how you're going to spend the money you bilk from Alec's leftover sycophants, m'kay?

In today's AxaMonitor Daily:
  • AxaMonitor’s attorney answers the cease and desist letter from Alec Peters’ Nevada lawyer. Long story short: Put up or shut up. Wanna download and read our lawyer’s response?
  • Ares Digital’s less than auspicious launch requires additional help, as mounting bug reports from Axanar donors forces Peters to seek out PHP developers — apparently as volunteers.
  • Axanar surrogate Jonathan Lane’s fan film, “Interlude,” passes the halfway mark in its $19,500 GoFundMe campaign but it’s running out of time to raise the rest of its budget in order to meet its November production schedule. What can he do?
  • Trekzone’s Matt Miller interviews infamous YouTubers Midnight’s Edge, criticized by many for their unsubstantiated reports of turmoil behind the current productions of Star Trek series.

Ares Digital looks really bad on mobile. Looking at the code, I thought people stopped building web pages using tables a long time ago.

Pro tip? Start by reconsidering the $9,100 you're spending - 47 percent of your budget! - just on slavishly reproducing non-standard, Axanar-specific Starfleet uniforms for so many actors.

Oh no! Carlos made a budget suggestion! Will he incur the wrath of Slow Lane???

I still use them. DIV layers have their own issues, especially when internationalizing sites with right-to-left languages.

The old password I had on AD2 doesn’t work and neither does their password reset “feature”. :brickwall:

Peters is not stupid; he is just a bully. He knows his C&D is BS but his bully tactics have worked for the most part for years so it is good to see that you and your attorney called his bluff. It will be interesting to see if they respond.

Lol - after reading the Axamoniitor attorney's response, I'd have to say Alec Peters (the "Lawyer by Training") just got some MORE 'training' as to how libel and slander laws actually work in the U.S. and may find out personally how SLAP statutes work too. ;)
