Sounds a little more like BB-8 than B-4.My pet theory is that they need something from Data's memories to solve a current riddle, and the only way to try and access it is by reassembling B4 and trying to get him to remember whatever it is.

Predictably so.
More's the pity.
Obviously. ..how dare I want original stories and characters that expand upon the lore of the world of Trek... ?
If you don't want TNG appearances in this show, then you're obviously not the target demographic. As someone who considers TNG to be my favorite trek show, the more appearances the better. I'm excited for the show because of Picard and his history, not the boring looking new characters.
Interesting thing about STO is: They HAVE a storyline where the Romulans have been trying to integrate and use Borg technology in their ships to get a 'leg up' on the other Star Empires since the destruction of Romulus (and this was part of the game since 2010* -- so it seems the producers may have thought that was an interesting angle and ran with it for the Picard series. And with one small detail (Picard leaving the E-E in 2381) that’s the novelverse effectively wiped out, as it has Picard still in command as of 2386.
Not sure about STO but guessing it’ll be able to work around it a bit easier. Countdown is out too since it had Picard as an ambassador in 2387 (was never a big fan of Countdown anyway).
Widget Spiner?Or Picard keeps a thumb drive of Data with him when he needs to chat or play cards.
Just seen the Picard trailer. Picard, Data and Seven of Nine? This leaves Discovery in the dust!
Right, because as always, the idea is for one show in the franchise to compete with another. Why root for two shows when you can root for one, after all?

Honestly though, I think that if PIcard is a runaway hit, it will hurt the longer-term future for Discovery - even if Season 3 ends up being good (in terms of both receptions and ratings). The execs will feel they found their new flagship and start shifting resources around to Discovery's detriment, and CBS will feel if the show is "on the bubble" there is enough other Trek stuff coming out to retire it.
This "Data" is also seemingly wearing the grey part of the uniform. Which B4 did not do. ...not that it proves anything, just pointing it out.The last time we seen B4, he wore a yellow collared shirt just like that.
To keep subscribers year-round for CBS-AA, it's doubtful they would drop DSC if season 3 goes well all around. These shows can co-exist and compliment one another in wonderful ways. I would expect PIC to do awesome numbers, but that doesn't mean doom for DSC, since they're not in competition with one another.Honestly though, I think that if PIcard is a runaway hit, it will hurt the longer-term future for Discovery - even if Season 3 ends up being good (in terms of both receptions and ratings).
