Spoilers Combined Star Trek SDCC Coverage thread (potential Disco S2 spoilers)

And with one small detail (Picard leaving the E-E in 2381) that’s the novelverse effectively wiped out, as it has Picard still in command as of 2386.

Not sure about STO but guessing it’ll be able to work around it a bit easier. Countdown is out too since it had Picard as an ambassador in 2387 (was never a big fan of Countdown anyway).
Could be retconned. We’ll see if it’s too small to reed in the actual PIC episodes.

Countdown while probably out, might not be totally ruled out because for one ambassadors aren't members of Starfleet and for another if his ambassadorship was very short-live that may be why it wasn't mentioned on the plaque.

Maybe they can retcon it and say that Ambassador was what his friends called him because of his tireless efforts at establishing peace with the Romulans (as an Admiral).

TrekCore has uploaded all their pictures into one article, it includes a lot of stuff that hasn't been posted here yet

There is a certificate that has what looks like Shenzhou Concept art on it, but with Sovereign looking nacelles.

Nice. Adding bridging elements from the Discovery era up to that point in time. Which makes sense when you consider how long some ship classes have been around it makes sense many of the ship classes we see in Discovery would not only be around in Kirk's time (we didn't see many anyway in TOS) but maybe lasting into Picard's time as a cadet. Or would spawn similar looking variations. Look at how long the Excelsior and Relient classes ended up lasting.

This is sure to piss some people off though that were hoping nothing of Discovery would make it this far.

That wouldn't work with Countdown because Picard was Federation ambassador to Vulcan.

No doubt there will be a new book/comic showing Picard's promotion and later retirement. But it's always been that the novelverse is not canon, which is sad because in so may ways it's developed the Trek Universe.

I have to say I really dig the costume work for Picard so far!
It's really a nice blend of familiar, futuristic, functional, the weird cothing style of civilians on TNG, and yet looking perfectly wearable and appropriate for a current day show. That's... surprisingly well done. And that people don't even notice it (because nothing sticks in any way out negatively) is a testament to how good the work actually is and how it manages to please all these different (and sometimes opposing) requirements! Kudos!

Christ, yet another of John Eaves's derivative designs that looks nothing like a ship from the year 2327.
The artist that created that certificate probably just grabbed what ever ship art they had on hand. I doubt Eaves designed that ship specifically for that certificate.

If he even designed it, we don’t even know if he’s working on this show.

IIRC, he designed over a hundred concepts for Disco. I'm sure they had a deep well to draw from.
Well this one actually looks like a late 24th century ship unlike his released DSC concepts.

It has a Sovereign style bridge section and possibly main shuttle bay, and the nacelles appear (but hard to tell without colour) to have Sovereign style bussard collectors and nacelle ‘grills’.

None of his DSC concepts had those late 24th century design elements. At least ones that we have been released.
