Spoilers New Picard TV Series and Litverse Continuity (may contain TV show spoilers)

Still, I’m a little skeptical about the announcement of a Picard novel yet, particularly given the lack of official airdate. Granted they could announce both, but with the TNG novel Collateral Damage already expected in October, I kinda feel there is something of a berth being given to anything that ties in to the series, maybe until they know if there’s going to be any kind of conflict with preestablished post-Nemesis lit continuity.
The cadence of releases hasn't quite stabilized yet (for one thing, we're about to get two books in two weeks, after a two month wait from the last one), but with the announcement of DSC #5 in December, we've got a hole in November that could be filled by a PIC tie-in.

Ah, thank you.

IIRC, there's two novels with no information listed for pre-ordering: one in December and one in January. The December one is almost certainly the new Disco novel that was just announced a few days ago. The January one could very easily be a Picard tie-in.
The Picard series is set to air before Discovery's third season. The last we heard about any airdate was "late 2019." Hopefully they're still on track for that. If they stick to that, I'm thinking November 2019 for a premiere, but that's just a guess.
November is a pretty good guess, given Titan's publishing a magazine focusing on the Picard Show in November.

So you have to take this stuff with a pinch of salt but the Picard Museum (A fictional museum with exhibits about Admiral Picard and the show) they have at SDCC has a few dates:

There’s also a model of the 1701-E noting, “Admiral Picard commanded the Enterprise-E until 2381, before he was promoted to admiral and given a special assignment by Starfleet Command.”

Dang. That would seem to be a smoking gun that the current novel-verse is incompatible, presuming that the caption is accurate and will be reflected in the show. As of now, it's just as non-canon as the novels, but it doesn't bode well!

I can't see them putting all this effort into it and it not be compatible with Star Trek: Picard, I mean the whole thing's pretty much a walk in teaser trailer really.

That said, if Picard isn't going to be compatible with the novel-verse, I actually think I'd rather it goes its own way pretty much straight after Nemesis and is completely and obviously different (essentially Kelvin style), rather than have me trying to weave two similar narrative strands together (and failing)...

Oh, for sure, I just mean to not take it as gospel *yet*, as a display piece isn't a canon source. I think it's like 99.87% likely that as soon as Picard airs, we'll see that it's incompatible with the novel-verse, but for now it's just a preview of things to come.

And that's a good point about having a definite split between the two, rather than it being a "squint and it's kinda close" situation. I kind of agree with that.

I'm really expecting David Mack's upcoming TNG book to be a sort of wrap up to the current novel-verse. 2020 will probably be loaded with TOS, Discovery and Picard novels.
Yep, wouldn't be surprised if the Picard novels will go down the Discovery route and be character prequels. The question is will any fill in any of Jean Luc's post-TNG, pre-Picard (ie, novel-verse timeframe) years?
*sound of Thanos snap annihilating the novelverse*
You mean Q, right?

*Sadly opens my wishbook to the "Countdown to Novels" entry from 2009 and appends "outlined as a hypothetical in roundtable podcast interview with several authors, a la DS9 Season 8 from the documentary"*
