Pretty much. The fan could have asked "do you have a model of the Enterprise" and in return, the actor having likely have heard the same question a zillion times probably would say any number of amusing things in return or to answer the question or even to not say anything. Too much detail, too little detail, just enough detail, does it make a difference in the end? There's usually a facet somewhere.

Does anybody remember the thread from the last two or three years ago a communicator logo for a Trek anniversary photo that had a line not drawn properly and we obsessed about it with good humor? I'm trying to find that thread if it's still around; I tried some key word searches but came up empty.

The concept of FTL was around way before that. Now giving Cochrane the idea of a Federation and a Starfleet... but again these were just things he jotted down notes about, not anything concrete he could use to TELL people how to create the Federation.

Awkward Moment. When you get a birthday present from someone who's not a fan and it's a DVD of TWOK. Then I'm asked point-blank in front of everyone, "You don't have this one, right?" Of all the ones.

I'm a cheap Commodore, so I don't have access to the other lounges, and I didn't include the subfora, like Doctor Who or Star Wars. I generally steer clear of the non-Star Trek fora, so I was surprised to see that they are so much more active, even today with all the Star Trek you could ever want in production.

There is something that has irritated me about every ST series and every ST movie. In space "up" and "down" are not absolute but are relative to the viewer's position; consider two spaceships, one rotated laterally 180deg from the other, the crew on each ship would deem themselves right-side-up and the other ship upside-down. So two, or more, spaceships could encounter in space at any angles and as long as there was no need for them to physically interact there would be no problem, in fact probabilities are this is how they would encounter. Yet in all versions of ST vessels in sight of each other are always level with each other and oriented the same, like two naval ships on the ocean. The only ships not seen like this are damaged or derelict.
Another across-the-board nitpick with ST movies and series. In space the life support systems would have priority for getting power, if nothing else on the ship is functional you need life support or you will not be functional for long. And in the background chatter on the bridge you often hear something like "gravity at zero-point-eight" - obviously gravity is being created and monitored on the ship. How often do we see a ship, Federation or other, completely without power, to the point someone notes life support systems are down? ...yet they still have gravity. In these situations the crew should be moving around like astronauts on the ISS, not sitting and walking normally.
