Thanks I've thought a lot about that experience during these fucked up Trump days. For a weird little socially awkward freakazoid, I was a crafty little shit. I had all this mayhem figured out even back then. Part of me has always known it would come to this. I think it all started when I was very young & Reagan was president, & I'd watch his Bonzo movie & think WTF am I living in? Is it any wonder we're where we are?
Random Fact: My dad, born in 1946, was a prime age for the military draft at the time of the Vietnam Conflict. He actually volunteered for the army, & they discharged him on medical grounds, because he developed very serious bronchitis & pneumonia a few times during boot camp (Apparently wherever he was in training was RIPE with it) & because he kept getting it, they classified it as chronic, & dismissed him from service He secretly suspected that it could've been related to him having been a wildly abusive cigarette smoker, ironically enough, because here was a guy who wanted to serve, but couldn't, due to an illness he likely self-inflicted, whereas other guys were given no choice but to go, & would've gladly self-inflicted in order to get out, (& some did) Technically that was a random fact about my dad & not me. However, the random fact about me is that I'm kind of glad he was dismissed, because given how poorly that whole Vietnam situation ended up going for us, there'd have been a vastly decreased likelihood that I'd exist right now
My dad volunteered for the Airforce during Vietnam before he was drafted. He always felt like he cheated the system, especially since he served in Omaha as a computer operator. As my mom says, he still had to give up four years of his life, even if he never did end up in any combat situations. Those positions are still necessary and must be filled by someone. He hated it when people thanked him for his service.
That's actually kind of how things were going to go for my dad. By volunteering, he got out ahead of the draft, & chose to go into communications. The very worst that could've happened was that he could've been sent into the field with a radio box on his back (The kind that had a literal phone receiver on it lol) but I don't figure that was very likely. He'd have been manning a station somewhere, most likely, but who knows. I still consider it fortunate he never ended up facing the potential of combat, & thus, potentially not being around to bring me about

I've got a weird thing about numbers, regarding settings and such. I can't use 1, 3, 6, or 9 for some reason, only 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 0. Like for my television or car volume, I can set it to 8 or 15 or 20, etc, but I can't use 19 or 31, and such. And that goes for my temperature settings too, and even when I'm using timers for cooking. So if my recipe calls for "bake for 11 minutes", I'll have to set it to 12 instead. I don't know if that's a fact about me or just something really weird, lol.

I blame it on the fact that I've been working for the government for 26 years now: my nerves dug themselves plenty of furling space
What happens if you want to tune a TV or radio? For example, you might want to watch channel 6 on TV, or 206 on cable, or your favorite FM channel might be 96.3 MHz. Or, if you need to dial 911 for an emergency? Are you able to force yourself to use them if you have to?
On second thought one of them is not very complicated. As a small kid, I drowned and was resuscitated by a person (who was there by pure chance) who knew the proper gestures to do so. Most people don't.
I grew up in an airforce base in Germany. My garden backed onto the main taxiing runway. I was a 2 year old Houdini. Nothing could hold me. Planes had to come to screeching halts or continue circling whilst the MP's chased after me following breaking free of the confines of my back yard. Three times. Another random fact about me: My kitchen doesn't HAVE an oven. Or a kitchen table. It does, however, have two seats from the original Yankee Stadium (at least it will, once my dad ships them to me... ) See where my priorities lie?
