Case dismissed! Discovery and Tardigrade game "not similar"

How DARE you! "Will the bailiff please remove the gentlemen in the back row in Vulcan ears and red uniforms chanting 'With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured...the first thought forbidden...the first freedom denied – chains us all, irrevocably.'"

I don't think it is high up on her priority list.

More than likely the last thing she is concerned about. I'm going to venture a guess the case will eventually be dismissed for want of prosecution. The Plaintiff has to actually do something for the claim to continue.

And as much as I believe his claim is frivolous, if there's any truth to this kind of behavior, that is completely unacceptable. The man lost his father, FFS. Not time to be an asshole.

There may not be any ruling for the foreseeable future as well. It's definitely on the judge's back burner. I wouldn't read anything to the inactivity other than it's not a high priority. That happens in courts all over the country.

Nothing yet as far as I can tell.
(nothing listed on the court sites I watch as of midnight last night)

I wonder if Abdin is in a total state of panic at this point.

The people on the board. That way it can stick it to the evil CBS!
This is mild compared to the vitriol of some Facebook groups.

I had to leave the Star Trek Continues group for my own well being. Its members, despite empty warnings, just attack Discovery and anything else new, while sending up hokey memorial threads to minor personas who had some connection to TOS and pushed up their last daisy years ago, with a lot of creepy idolizing of Michele Specht to fill out the whole thing.

If there's any made up controversy to Discovery, they're on it like a fly on a turd, though strangely silent on a certain STC founder's own current troubles.

Star Trek Facebook is very toxic right now. No question. YouTube of course as well.

Yes it is. The level of infighting, the name calling and general disrespect doesn't make for good conversation or exchange of ideas.

I am, frankly, tired of the CBS bashing. No, they don't do things perfectly. But, STC and Axanar are not the answer. Sorry, they are not.
Sounds like typical Facebook. ;)
And typical Trekkers. But it really is unfortunate, because it's an exciting time for Trek.

It is unfortunate because it would be nice to find more common ground that things to get angry over. I don't even mind disagreement. But, it becomes highly toxic (that word is starting to lose meeting) when it turns in to "CBS is evil!" levels of argumentation. Because, CBS isn't. They are business that I agree with sometimes and disagree with other times.

I don't think it's lost it's meaning. The people who are actually toxic do try to blur the lines to protect their own asses though.

That's fair. I just some times think it is a bit of a buzz word, rather than actually describing behavior that is problematic.

That's why I like being very specific. And, wishing for CBS to fail and lose is a perfect example.

It actually has a pretty specific meaning. It's a pretty major issue in various fandoms right now and something that creators and fans are starting to increasingly be aware of. The USS Callister episode of Black Mirror is a prime example, Jordan Peele has said that his Candyman reboot will touch it as well.

It does, but it gets tossed around in a way that I think that meaning needs to be reemphasized.

To be fair, it is disturbingly common. You can't really have any discussion relating to Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who or other franchises without some toxic fans popping in to derail the conversation to rant about having female characters or people of color as characters being an assault on white men. It's utterly laughable, but we've all seen it a lot.

As a white male it is frustrating because it gets derailed for stupid crap. I just want a conversation!
