Last movie you saw?

The Running Man 1987: it definitely feels like something similar could happen someday. We're getting closer every year.

Had to sit at work today keeping watch of the barely visited video booths, so I used the time to watch movies. Started with classic Kaiju Eiga "Gappa", and continued with the MonsterVerse double feature " Godzilla " & "Kong: Skull Island".

I am re-watching all the Marvel Movies. Trying to watch them in order, or mostly in order. Right now I have 2nd Guardians of Galaxy Vol.2, Thor Ragnarok, and Infinity War. I am doing this for two reasons. The first is we have some friends and their kids who are really interested in the movies, but they have not watched them in order and they have a lot of questions. The 2nd is just because it is fun.

Rush Hour 3. The first two were entertaining and had cool (if relatively mediocre, compared to his other works) Jackie action, but this one was hard to get through to the end. What an utter piece of cinematic shit.

Rim of the World. Highly recommend this movie, it's great fun.
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check this out soon. I only partially paid attention to the preview, so I assumed it was a whole new Netflix series. A movie is less commitment.

One of my kids brought over Spirited Away which I had never seen before. It was a hauntingly (heh) beautiful film. I really liked how you can view the imagery in a number of different ways.

I am Mother over on Netflix. I've seen worse ... not bad, per say, but not overly good either. The story was rather predictable and the 'twists' just didn't pay off. Hillary Swank was very good and the various 'daughters' we're decent too. Production values were very good, you could tell they had a decent budget to play with on this one. If you have Netflix and a few hours to kill, I guess you could do worse than this .... B- to C+

Peter Jackson's King Kong.

Back when this came out, one of the silliest criticisms I heard was that "the T-Rex fight was too long." Watching it last night, all I could think was, "If giant monsters fighting each other for ten rounds in a giant monster movie somehow detracts from your enjoyment of the picture, you have no business watching a giant monster movie because you obviously have no idea what you're there to see."

The test audiences that thought there wasn't enough human drama in Legendary's Godzilla movies obviously suffer from the same malady.

I've been starting a rewatch of the Godzilla movies. I've seen "Godzilla" (1954, Japanese version), "Godzilla Raids Again", "King Kong vs Godzilla" (US version, because my disc with the Japanese version split, aaarrgghh!!!), "Mothra vs Godzilla", "Ghidorah, the three-headed Monster", and the last one was "Invasion of Astro-Monster".
