Well, whether one agrees with my personal opinion or not is irrelevant to me. As far as I’m concerned, Troi was dead in AGT and I’d be fine if she was dead in STP.
I mean, ok, but that's headcanon, and a show cannot be based upon that...unless you are a writer on it.
Actually, Data does have aging software, according to Inheritance.
It's not even headcanon. it's just what I think based on what I've seen so far. We'll know the truth once the show starts.
You just literally defined headcanon. No matter: my point stands that it is not at all unreasonable to expect that other TNG characters will still be in Picard's orbit, even a wide one, for both in-universe and real-world reasons.
No, headcanon is a belief in something that directly contradicts actual canon or has no evidence to back it up, but you believe it anyway. If my opinions of what the show is going to be about are not actually borne out when I watch it, even if they were based on the 'evidence' of trailers, hidden cam photos, etc., then my opinions are going to change.
Good thing that no one is forcing you to watch this.
Except I will be watching it regardless of the fact that I didn't really have any interest in seeing Picard or the TNG era again, because I think it will be a good show. What's your point?
Well, you basically said that you didn't need the sort of show this is. But if you think it will be good regardless of your disinterest in the premise, then it can certainly be good even if Troi and Riker are on it, despite you having no interest in that either.
I have no interest in seeing those characters again. If the show was about them, I'd probably pass. But it's about Picard, and even though I had no interest in seeing him either, he's more of an interesting character than the former two. So if they happen to show up, then they show up. But I'm not watching the show for them or hoping they appear.
The only reason I am interested in this show is because of the Romulan angle. I have no interest in the TNG cast making a "Greatest Hits" album. I sincerely hope that Data, Riker, Troi and LaForge can go out and have their own lives outside of Picard's influence. Let the galaxy be big.
I hope to see or at least hear about Riker, Data, Worf, and Beverly. Geordi, Deanna, Wesley would be nice as well. If the season builds up to a big finale, some of them could show up with their own ships. Riker might still have the Titan, Data the E, Worf could have a negh'var, Beverly could have the Pasteur, Geordi had the Challenger in VOY Timeless, Deanna could have a transport ship (there's a lot less pressure there). I'd actually enjoy something like that, and if they contribute meaningfully to the story, why not? If it's about Romulus, maybe they could even bring Donatra, Sela, or Tal'aura back. If the plot is good, why wouldn't we wanna see at least some of them again? They could be absent from 9 episodes and then become the fan surprise in the last one.
Then the show is no longer about Picard; it's about all those other people.
Let's face it: We already know the main cast of STP: It's Stewart and a bunch of actors we've never heard of who are his new crew. There's obviously a story in mind based on these people, that's going to fit into only 10 episodes. I'm not sure why the rest of the TNG cast would be part of that, other than some pointless cameos.
