News Brent Spiner Returned for "Picard" (and you could do the CGI better in 15 minutes, we get it)

But you should be aware that Star Trek: Countdown comic is actually part of canon/prime-time. So Date is back (B4).
Orci made a statement to the effect (his opinion) that it was countdown until it's contradicted by new material on screen. It's been contradicted, now.

No. It was contradicted in the same movie it was meant to be a prequel for. In the comic, it was established that Nero's crew didn't originally have tattoos and only got them after Romulus was destroyed as a symbol of mourning. However, in the film Nero's wife (who was on Romulus before it was destroyed) can clearly be seen with tattoos. So that's not why they had them.

And I'm hoping we do not see Spiner at all.

Although I suspect only broadest strokes will be adapted, the Countdown/movie continuity is at least on par with Disco/TOS. By our standards it's contradicted. By theirs...

Maybe his wife was in mourning?

Jonathan Frakes tweeted a photo of a trombone - "my next project" - to which Spiner responded "Oh yeah!" And now I'm convinced Riker and Data are back.

Rumours of Marina being on a secret project too.

Wouldn’t surprise me since CBS has been hitting nostalgia hard since the beginning of Discovery.

Disclaimer:
While this is a fun meme, I honestly don't want the Picard show to be TNG 2.0. Some revisiting of the old characters is inevitable, but I want the show to NOT be about the further adventures of the TNG crew.

From what I hear so far, it is thankfully not that.

I'd like cameos where appropriate, but it's the Picard show first and foremost. For me the most important characters for Picard would be Q and Beverly.

I really don't want this to become a reunion show. It's got to stand on its own to be viable.

Marina's in London, and just started rehearsals for the new play Dark Sublime.

There was something mentioned on the Trek reddit in the same post as the trombone pic. Haven’t seen the tweet yet, but someone said she mentioned a secret project in LA.

Edit: actually I think someone mentioned it was on the graham norton radio 6 show.

I might go see the play. It’s been a while.

I don’t think she had to be mourning Romulus.

But that’s what the comic specifically stated: Nero and his crew got tats because Romulus was destroyed. Since his wife didn’t have tats in the comic, she wasn’t mourning. So it’s still a contradiction whether she was mourning something else in the movie or not.

Maybe she got the tats, Romulus was destroyed, Nero got tats inspired by his dea wife, and it became the de facto mourn Romulus thing for the crew? (Who luckily had a tattooist with them.)
It’s not insurmountable, and I do t think I mind much either way. It’s an interesting bit of possibly canon, that also turns up in STO, since at launch they were trying to be on more or less the same page (litverse stuff was in early STO too, sometimes tweaked a little.)
