They should call it "Bat and Cat".

According to the article on IGN the Bat/Cat series will be 12 issues, so I'm wondering if that means it'll basically be what were originally going to be the last few issues of King's Batman story, just under a new title now.

I think mostly so, although at 12 issues it'll end up a bit short of the hundred issue run King was aiming for.

So, the guy who ruined the connection/relationship between Batman and Catwoman with a bnuch of BS and then one of the worst anti-wedding swerves in recent comic book history...is going to write a Batman/Catwoman mini series?

Honestly, I have pretty much hated the main Batman books since all the way back to when Grant Morrison took over, which was around the time I started having regular access to new comics, so while I'm glad King is gone i'm sure his replacement will be just as shit as King was, and Scott Snyder before him. I think the last time a good writer was the regular on Batman was probably literally a decade or more ago at this point.

I'm surprised the semi-monthly model lasted as long as it did to be honest. I like how it moved stories along though. I would love to have Batman/Detective and Superman/Action being continuous story lines to be honest.

I miss the 90s where all 4 Superman titles contributed to a weekly story.

Which worked well at points--The Death and Reign of the Superman specifically. But the effort of maintaining a single storyline through FOUR books led to a lot of poor issues. Detective and Batman ran continuous stories in the early eighties I think, but I only read a handful of them. Two issues a month should work as it did for a lot of the Rebirth series.

I don't quite see the point, really. The character was loosely based on the Reaper from the "Year Two" story arc, and they just re-introduced the Reaper in "Detective Comics Annual" #2.

The article does point out that the movie version of Andrea Beaumont had a romantic history with Batman, so they could be bring her into the series to be an added complication to the BatCat relationship.

Well, having one of the worst writers in DC's history ruin another DC character should piss me off more, but joke's on him because Bruce Timm already ruined The Phantasm in one of the worst Justice League animated episodes (the one where they wasted one of the last JLU episodes ever just to make an epilogue to the mediocre Batman beyond which was all about how only people with Bruce Wayne's DNA are special).

So, fuck Tom King, but I'm semi numb to this. also, for a guy who hates Catwoman and won't allow her to get married to Batman because Batman is apparently a self hurting emo who needs his pain to fight crime, he sure keeps pairing them up a lot.

    Now, onto the other news:
    Fuck, fuck, fuck

I swear, it feels like Tom King and Scott Snyder are teaming up to destroy the entire DC Universe. I didn't think my favorite superhero team could get fucked over harder then how Legends of Tomorrow fucked the group over, but if anyone can be a worse writer then the brain dead morons that write that show, its Scott Snyder.

His Justice League stuff is easily as bad as his Batman stuff, and it might be worse since he's gone full Grant Morrison with the completely incomprehensible source wall/Lex Luthor magic bullshit plot. Taking a shit on the JSA is just Snyder actively being a prick. What's next, is DC going to dig up Gardner Fox's grave just to have every one of their writers take turns pissing on it? That's about all they can do to shock me at this point when it comes to their active destruction of the JSA and everything connected to it.

I'd literally rather have them hire Rob Liefeld to write a JSA book then scott Snyder, since at least one or two of the comics Rob has written were entertaining in a "so bad its good" way, as opposed to Snyder, whose every comic is a complete waste of time/money and paper.

    So, in other words, DC

Switching creative teams from issue to issue was jarring to me as a reader, especially when I would read an arc all the way through in one sitting. I much prefer the way Marvel did it when they were publishing Amazing Spider-Man 3 times a month. Rather than having the creative teams switch off of a issue to issue basis, they would let one creative team tell a whole story before switching to the next creative team.

    FINALLY!!!

DC's LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES Returns in New Ongoing | Newsarama

September will see the launch of a two-issue mini-series titled "Legion of Super-Heroes: MIllennium" by Brian Michael Bendis and various artists, which will unify all the different DC Futures from LoSH, Batman Beyond, OMAC, Kamandi, Tommy Tomorrow, as well as Booster Gold into one timeline, And after that mini-series, a new LoSH ongoing series by Bendis & Ryan Sook will launch in November.

Newsarama also has a preview of LoSH: Millennium and a look at Ryan Sook's new designs.

Hardcore fans of the Paul Levitz version have to be strong, though. It looks like another reboot.

As long as they don't release new regular titles to take the place of the second issues then I'm up for this as, to put it bluntly, I'm running out of storage space. I spent the last month or so cataloguing my collection preparatory to rearranging them in an effort to find more space in my 1 bedroom home and facilitate a read through of the post-crisis Batman. For the record I have approximately 2500 all but a handful of them DC and an unknown number of TPBs.

So, Bendis completely ruined Superman and pretty much everything connected to him, and now he's coming for my second favorite superhero team, the Legion of Superheroes (and its another pointless fucking reboot). At this point, none of my favorite DC things are left. Seriously, looking at my favorite DC heroes

    1. Captain Marvel (DC Comics) - ruined by Geoff Johns, now a fairly evil shithead (the movie modified this "Shazam" a lot, but in the comics he's still terrible and even the good "Shazam" from the movie still pails to the original Captain Marvel.

    2. Power Girl - The New 52 turned her into a stereotypical "dumb blonde" who partied and literally banged everyone (especially when they could give her things), until the Earth 2 comics switched that for a (better?) incarnation that is just a bland angry woman who basically did nothing but argue with/pine for the New 52 Earth 2 new Superman.

    3. Batgirl (Cassandra Cain) - She is mostly just a body that artists draw in the background of shots where they need a bigger "Bat Family", and they call her Orphan even though Scott Snyder of all people had a better name/look for the post-Batgirl cassandra (Black Bat)

    4. Oracle (Barbara Gordon) - Turned back into Batgirl (which I think literally no one wanted except Dan Didio), then de-aged to 15 going on 21 (she's drawn like a middle schooler but drinks like a frat boy).

    5. Batman (Bruce Wayne) - Whiny, emotional emo who can't marry Catwoman because, much like Captain kirk in Star Trek V, he apparently needs his pain or he can't be a vigilante because...reasons. Also, the Court of Owls makes him cry, and there are three Jokers because...Scott Snyder is a moron. This post could go on forever, but I'll cut it off here.

    6. Wonder Woman - The DC Rebirth WW is better then the New 52 version (she's not a god and now canonically never dated Superman, thank god), but she's bland as hell and her comic is mediocre.

    7. Zatanna - Spent the New 52 as nothing but a love interest of Constantine who learned literally everything from him (because a woman needs a man to make her great apparently, according to DC comics New 52, and someone at DC desperately loves john Constantine), instead of being a strong character who could kick Constantine's ass from a magic perspective. After DC rebirth, she's just a bland magic user, not as connected to Constantine but not particularly interesting.

    8. Green Lantern (Jessica Cruz) - got her great comic cancelled for literally no other reason then DC didn't want competition for Grant Morrison's shitty Hal Jordan comic.

    9. Superman - Bendis tried to rewrite the DC rebirth Superman by eliminating Lois and Jon completely, and when that didn't work he basically just replaced Superman's kid and continued writing possibly the worst comic of his career.

    10. Batwoman - DC fired her writers because Bat Family members can't be happy, and now in the current comics she's a psychotic murderer who helps her military facist father (seriously, he tried to massacre Batman/the bat family with a group of military style thugs and take over Gotham, and that's where she is now).

That's not even mentioning my favorite DC teams, with the JSA and Legion being completely destroyed and the Birds of Prey name stolen for a shitty New 52 book that had no connection to the actually good BoP, or characters like Harley Quinn who is now literally nothing but Deadpool with different parts between her legs.

At this point, the only things DC is producing that I still read are Justice League Dark, Flash, and Supergirl. On balance, taken at their peak, while I love both DC and Marvel I am more of a fan of the DC universe. But, with how the companies are now, both aren't doing great but Marvel is still managing to do slightly less worse with its comics while DC is sliding back into the Neww 52 style (because they will never escape the grimdark bullshit until Didio and harras are gone).

ComicBook.com has an interview with Bendis on LoSH.

He drops a few hints that he's been working on this since he came over to DC, and he and Ryan Sook took this long to prepare for the book and its characters and world.

"People who have read Legion before will be excited, or interested that we're doing this, but for people who have never read Legion before, or have only heard about it (usually in very positive tones), it's up to us to invite them to the 31st century. It's a buy-in, right? You're coming to a new part of the DC Universe, so we want to invite you.

"I thought, I wonder if there's a way -- and this is what Legion and Millennium is -- I wondered if there was a way to literally walk the audience from today, right to the Legion's front door, giving them a tour of what happens to the DC Universe...some of which we know because we've seen these disparate futures from different creators over the years."

So that's the idea behind the Millennium mini-series. Sounds reasonable enough.

"Well, Legion is the next thing. It is still actually actively happening and one of my Legion goals is, and this isn't a criticism of other creators, but over the years, Legion doesn't have the consistency that other books have had. To attempt what we're attempting, and then keep it a consistent book for a while that really builds to something at the level of "The Great Darkness Saga" or other high-water marks of Legion, is a big goal for this and for us.

"I think people buying in on this want the biggest thing in the world. That's what they're coming for. We're really going to try."

I take it he plans on staying on the book long-term. Well, he has experience with it, after all he stayed on "Ultimate Spider-Man" for more than 100 issues.

"Our Legion is going to be a little different than past Legions. I know that sometimes in the past, the Legion have gotten together because things are so peaceful, they can't stand it. Our Legion is coming together out of what they think is dire necessity. Things are starting to crumble, and they're crumbling fast, and it really feels like it's time for a new Age of Heroes for the first time in a millennium. That there's a genuine sense of threat to all things.

"It's funny because there are 34 lead characters. There are a lot of perspectives that the story is going to be handled from. So, so many perspectives that almost no story will be left unturned. Not every character will see things the same way. It's like every great team: some will be on the same page, some will not. It's going to be a time of great chaos and struggle in the galaxy, and it's up to them to get to work and figure it out as they're going; they're young."

This sounds like he's trying to make it a bit of a comment on current events, as this sounds a lot like the Fridays For Future movement and the like.

Anyway, I recommend reading the whole interview, it is quite insightful.
