Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Oh, I never said I have an issue with what he's doing. It's pretty outstanding, actually. I just meant if I had those means, I'd opt to not, & instead do the other, as I imagine doing both might be a little too much even for a billionaire

It would be a far leap ahead to try to prosecute someone for leaving the state & returning sans fetus, especially as the state need not even be informed, if the person went confidentially to a clinic & got referred to the charitable program. Technically, to share that information would be violating patient's rights (Hippa)

I was thinking about my reply a while after I posted it and realized that you didn't imply that Robert F. Smith should have been helping women instead of those students but that if you were a billionaire that you'd be helping them. My apologies. :)

And some of those states--Georgia is one, I believe--are going to try to prosecute women for leaving their state to have an abortion (something about crossing state lines to "commit a crime" or something like that.

...But...now we're getting into TNZ area. I'll leave it from here.

over here, we have solved that problem pretty well imo: you can have an abortion until the 3rd month, but you are required to get a neutral counceling first that tells you about all the options you have. If you still want an abortion, your insurance pays part of the costs and you still have to pay 400-700 $. (Unless you are very poor, in which case the insurance covers all costs).
If you decide to give birth but not keep the baby, you can give birth (either under your name or anonymousely) in a hospital and leave the baby there for adoption, or you can give birth at home and then bring the baby to a "baby flap" - that's a compartment, like a big letterbox, in the wall of the hospital. The instant the flap is opened, it triggers an alarm, so that the staff can get the baby immediately.

Unfortunately, there are those who are too lazy or too stupid to use birth control and instead have one abortion after the other. I think that sort of people should have to pay triple for the abortion.

I have my own thoughts on some of this, and I believe many here would agree, but I'll keep them to myself due to the area of the forum we're in.

Crap. I think HIPPA privacy regulations might not apply for state bodies, or law enforcement etc... I'd have to find some workaround ;)

If I were a multi billionaire.

I’d put a lot of money and work into supporting civic projects that raise the living standards and prospects of deprived communities and vulnerable groups.

I’d lobby the government and other billionaires to share some of their good fortune and take the boot off the necks on the lower rungs. No tax loopholes, minimum living space per person. Free education, universal healthcare. A focus on mental health, drug dependency and crime, and causes. It would be a role of society to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to reach their potential.

I’d also have the only Paul McGann Dr Who complete series boxset in existence.

ETA: I’d invest in the development of an app that monitors a persons behaviour and alerts them to when they’re being a cunt.

If I were a multibillionaire, like Robert F. Smith, I wouldn't pay off a graduating class' student loans. I'd pay the transport cost for women that needed to leave their state for an abortion. Way better investment imho
both both is good.jpg

he can afford to do both and still live better than the rest of us the rest of his life.

As for the movie in your meme, I'm pretty sure I thought it was really funny at the time but I'll need to go back and watch it again to see if any of it holds up.

I was just talking about this with the wife the other day. I always thought it was inspired.

Let’s not forget this one though.

What are the laws about living in one state where something is illegal, going to another state where it's not illegal and doing it, then coming back to your home state? I'd assume there's no valid legal way to prosecute somebody for doing something in a place it's legal, or else a ton of Colorado tourists are in trouble, but if you tried to prosecute it, you'd publicly advertise the person as somebody who had an abortion and cause them to get harassed and threatened.

that's cute! =) And there they always claim Germans have no sense of humour.
Welcome to the board, Färängisieve! Are you a fan of 7 of 9 or of DS9? Just wondering because of the "you can call me Nine".
The Umlaut might indeed present a challenge for many posters here, as it's not on their keyboards.
actually it has nothing to with 7/9 it has something to do with the digit sum of a nick somewhere else

the imho best female character of all trek is a certain major, 7/9 is horrible in German tubbing but brilliant in her own voice
and in any case to frontheavy for me.

in Europe in most cases it is still a crime
not Your example as such but stateswapping for an action that is crime at home, doesn't change the actions nature

Umlaut and other special keystrokes can be found here.

Alt-codes have been a figurative life-saver for me!

Like, today, it's 63°F and sunny.

° = ALT+Num0+Num1+Num7+Num6

In 3d printing groups, µ for µm or microns is ALT+Num2+Num3+Num0

Unfortunately, I guess these only work on PC and not Mac, but I do think most mobile devices have them hidden in some alternate keyboard option somewhere.

It's mostly an optical illusion by the wardrobe department. The German dubbing isn't all that bad imo. It's always a bit difficult for an actor twho hasn't played the character in the first place to get a feeling of what is right for this character. The actor/actress who actually played the part have their own ideas of the character as an inner guideline. The actor/actress who must dub a foreign production doesn't have that guideline and so their personal interpretation sometimes clashes with that of the original cast. Often, they notice their mistake after the first 5 or 6 episodes, when the character gets defined a bit clearer, but by then it's often too late to change their style as the audience already got used to it. It's a balancing act and I don't envy those who have to make a living by it.

For me it's jmuch easier: ° = shift+^
and µ is alt+shift+m
German keyboards are rather science-friendly :D

I hang out with all these Germans, so Umlauts are de rigueur and degrees symbols, superscripts/subscripts, some Greek letters and occasional accents are also used often.
