Generally ... The worst of Star Trek is better than the best of many other things.

Generally ... No matter how bad a movie or episode of Star Trek is, it is still Star Trek

Specifically ... Final Frontier ... Kirk has the guts to challenge God himself.

The thruster-boot sequence in the shaft was hilarious.

According to my Letterboxd, Into Darkness was my least favorite film:

Half of that movie was actually really good, but then they went to the Wrath of Khan wannabe and it really ticked me off, especially when they had just rebooted the Trek films and they could have taken Khan in an entirely different direction.

My reaction to Into Darkness was that it was a relatively entertaining film right up to the moment Spock does his "Khan yell." After that, it's a nauseating run/jump/crash/punch fest that looks worse than a generic Marvel movie. I've said it's like a really exciting amusement park ride that goes a little too far, and you end up vomiting at the end.

It's too bad, because there were some very good things leading up to that. I really like Pike's death scene and (controversial opinion) I thought the role-reversal on the TWOK death scene was very well played. I also like Kirk hitting head-on into a wall of humble pie.

I think there are a lot of fans who forget this.

My favorite thing about that movie was Peter Seller's character. I've always asked why couldn't Khan have been someone like Season 2 Gul Dukat, that ally you wish weren't an ally but he could be useful kind of thing. That's why I said the first half of that movie was great. It's my least favorite because it's a movie that felt like it fell off a cliff and left me wondering what could have been.

The opening on the Enterprise B was great. The rest of Generations was terrible.

And also one of my favourites.

Whilst Generations has more than it's fair share of problems, I wouldn't quite go this far. I think everything up to Picard going into the Nexus is excellent, but I'll admit the film falls flat on it's arse from that point onwards.

I didn't care for the holodeck scene (on the frigate or whatever that was) plus why wasn't it funny to push Beverly off the ship at that moment? I wanted to do it myself.

Can't quite agree on that... for starters Chekov and Scotty as replacements for Bones and Spock is too evident and distracting, you immediately say "oh, so those two needed the money". If they couldn't get the trio, might as well have Kirk alone... what did he say in V? He always knew he would die alone. If they needed somebody for the character to talk to, I don't know, throw in there the damn President of the Federation, or Carol Marcus, or whatever... Then, that Captain of the Enterprise B, boy oh boy, a legacy of great captains and then idiot, not a great look for the federation.... I can argue that the opening is better than what follows after, but that's not saying much.

There are bad Star Trek movies but Generations is the one that actively pisses me off.

Nemesis: Sure Shinzo's farting around when he had an urgent job to do is incomprehensible and sure his rage against Picard and the whole humankind, given that the only ones who ever wronged him were the Romulans is downright insane, Sure Picard violating the prime directive to amuse himself and firing at local pre-warp people that he just invaded is even more insane than anything Shinzo ever did... but at least... well..

The framing sequences in STV were great character pieces.

I liked the new Enterprise in the TNG movies.

I liked Karl Urban in the JJ movies.

Shinzon wasn't raging at earth - The Romulan military wanted him to attack earth and were goading him to do it in the movie.

But yeah, messing around when he needed Picard's blood and the prime directive violation were pretty dumb amongst a few other things.

I'll never understand why some people put so much stock into that line as some sort of infallible prediction. It's not like Kirk was psychic.
I felt the same way right after I first saw the film.

It's not my least favorite...but it's definitely down the list:

The final 10 mins of TVH are really great. I love the storybook ending. It was a very fitting, literal and figurative, homecoming fort he TOS crew after their ordeal.

I watched the first half of Generations last night and I agree that the opening scene with Shatner, Doohan, and Koenig is excellent.

^ I recall being mildly impressed by the actress who played the Trill bridge officer aboard the E-E, but not so impressed as to actually, y'know, find out what her name was or anything.
