Spoilers Game of Thrones: The Final Season

I read the "leak". If that's how it ends, there will be a lot of disappointed fans. Lol. But at this point there will probably be a lot of disappointed fans no matter how they end it.

Personally, I am looking for thematic closure--not a plot happy ending. What would bring thematic closure? For example, Dany on the throne but alone and broken, Jon heading North, Arya in the shadows plotting a rebellion or simply returning to Braavos. Martin has already said the series ends with graves (metaphorically or literally, we don't know). I think we all know that there will be no "happy" ending, and even a bittersweet ending will be more bitter than sweet.

Thanks for that! How's about you keep it to yourself? But no -- Share it in a thread which has had the majority state time and again NOT TO SHARE anything SPOILER-RY.

Want to watch it without Twitter, Reddit etc. casting it's bloody opinion.

In any event I'm going to bed shortly. It'll be available 3pm NZ time. I look forward to the insanity that follows.

That wasnt a spoiler. As I said, some fans will be unhappy no matter how it ends. There's already petitions before it even ended.

I'm amazed how Ser Davos has remained alive when so many predicted he would die ages past. Could he truly survive through the end?

I hope so. There are only six characters left from the first episode, right? Jon, Sansa, Arya, Bran, Tyrion and Dani, correct?
Yup, having just watched it.

I realized something while watching it: Aside from that episode, Cersei never traveled anywhere beyond King's Landing. Everyone else traveled even just a little bit but her. The least traveled character of the entire series.

I still believe that Samwell Tarly will kill Dany. Jon will reject the throne and go up North to be with Tormund and Ghost. Sansa, married to Gendry, will take the throne.

Two things I want to note while rewatching last week's episode:

1) Daenerys had already showed no mercy before she attacked the city's citizens: There's one clear shot of the Golden Company men fleeing for their lives outside of the gates and yet Daenerys directed Drogon to burn them all. While in retreat and probably unarmed. Not the same as innocent and unarmed men, women and children, I agree, but my point is she already let her fury consume her.

2) While it probably wouldn't make a difference to how Daenerys acted, Cersei continued her delusion of victory after Qyburn reported that all of the Scorpians were destroyed and the Iron Fleet was burning. She told him that her men would fight harder for her than a group of sellswords...forgetting the fact that the Golden Company are literally sellswords.

Oh man the slash fiction that shall be written about this.

Jon and Tormund marry in secret beneath a weirwood tree. Ghost fulfils the prophecy of the 'Goodest Boy that was promised' by being the goodest boy

I interpreted that to mean that the Lannister army will fight harder than the Golden Company, as she presumably knew the Golden Company was destroyed by the dragon.

I would normally agree with that interpretation...except she literally name-checked them moments earlier as a means of defense.

I was expecting a much more dystopian ending with Daenerys maintaining power. I'm glad I was wrong. It ended about as well as could be hoped.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force...as if millions of HBO subscriptions suddenly cried out and then were suddenly silenced.

I give the ending a B. They could have done better. They satisfied me. They gave me an ending that next time I watch it, I will feel the threads were decently wrapped up.

That premonition in Qarth. I assumed it was snow. Nope, ash. But it shows the writers knew this would happen since season 2.

I could do without the 4th wall-ish in joke where Sam suggests democracy.

I think they should have given Bran a different title than King.

I was right with my guess that Grey Worm would go to Naath if he lived.
