I wonder if they are actual uniforms used on the other shows or they created new ones that looked the same. I thought that all the old props and stuff was sold years ago. Well that and I am not sure they would have people wearing 25 to 30 year old clothes. If any of those clothes are still around they got to be in bad shape by now.

Of course my other theory is Picard is working the gardens at Starfleet Academy. Taking over for the late Boothby. The Irometic syndrome has taken over and he simply tends to the gardens to stay busy in his final days. We then cut back to 12 months before when we see Picard finding out about Spock and etc. The entire series is a dying Picard thinking back on his final mission in life in part because his memories are fragmented and he can't even recall most of his TNG days. Which is kind of good because they all died aboard the Enterprise exploding and nobody wants him to know that because of the emotional toil it would have on him.

The TNG font looks horribly dated. I'm glad they went with something more modern.

The uniforms actually look like the cadet uniforms. Picard could be at Starfleet Academy before being asked to deal with the plot. It would make sense to see him at first in semi-retirement teaching cadets about the basics of command and the situations they’ll deal with, maybe excitedly sharing a few stories of his time on the Enterprise to those who ask. He’s sort of a grandfatherly figure by then, age and experience having mellowed him. Seeing those glimpses of how he was when Wesley was trying to get into Starfleet. Then he gets asked to help deal with the Romulus situation and must leave and faces challenges to his beliefs and principles while finding a way to still live by them.

I don't know. It seems like he would be kind of happy in this scenario. I think the idea is that we are going to be seeing "Logan" style Picard were he is depressed. Though I don't know if that is something that has just become a fan theory or something they have hinted at and I have forgotten.

I think it’s based on personal bias and not understanding what’s been said. Also a severe misunderstanding of depression.

I wonder if the name Star Trek Picard implies that there is also going to be a ship with this name.

Since the last 4 ST shows were named after the actual vessel (or space station), maybe we are going to witness the maiden voyage of the U.S.S. Picard

They certainly aren't the early DS9 uniforms, the collars on those were turtlenecks. These look attached to the uniform and have the same color.

They may be cadet uniforms, but if they are they have reverted to an earlier style. The cadet uniforms were grey the last time we saw them (not to mention also adopting the First Contact styling, even though the colors were inverted). I'm hoping these are just regular uniforms, mostly because I like them and partially because I'm deathly afraid of ever seeing the All Good Things uniforms ever again. ;)

I imagine they have gone through a couple of uniforms styles, before going back to something that will be very familiar to TNG viewers (as TNG is what makes the money rather than DS9 and VOY)

    2 things;
    1) I really hope the CGI team to for quality over quantity so we don't get busy and slightly rushed looking Discovery looking model shots.
    2) Is anyone else a little bit bummed that this series is now sort of a prequel to Discovery (now that Discovery is set further on in the future) and not a completely clean slate show?

While we only got a title card and a screenshot, I'd say I like what I'm seeing so far. Sir Patrick looks great, his outfit has that "kind-of-present-day-but-not-quite suit jacket" look I've always loved in future civilian fashions since Babylon 5 (much more than the horrid and uninspired TNG jumpsuits), and the Starfleet uniforms are really nice too at a first glance. I miss the TNG movie-late DS9 gray-shoulder uniforms, but I have to admit these ones will probably look absolutely stunning on a LED TV. I wonder how the rank insignia and the combadges will look like though.

It could also be a skant. They're probably available for civilians too.

I actually though the pic was of PStew being interviewed on set in his civilian clothes .. so the initial shock realization that we seeing actual Picard for 1st time since Nemesis (and the 24th century since ST09s Spock mindmeld ) didn't happen until later :(

I don´t worry, becouse state of things in Discovery is probably going to be something quite unrecognizable nad thefore not to be connected with this show.

OK, people, I must admit, seeing these colored uniforms is sending tears into my eyes and saliva into my mouth .
Seriously, though, title of the show should have been more creative. We were still refering to that like Picard, thinking what it might have been actually... And now it´s confirmed it´s just Picard.

Hope this means they got rid of the hideous grey uniforms.

What I infer from what has said from the premise of the series, Picard left Starfleet after the destruction of Romulus "profoundly changed" by it and years later is convinced to lead some sort of a mission.
