AAaaaaand.... New Mutants is being delayed again. This freakin' movie is never gonna come out, and if it does it will probably end up being such a train wreck we'll ending wishing it never did.

The fact that it got rescheduled instead of canceled is already a surprise, and a win for the movie...

I am a bit surprised it's actually still coming to theaters and not Hulu.

I loved the New Mutants back in the day and consider the demon bear story that the movie is adapting to be a classic and Chris Claremont's high point on the book. However, at this point, I see this as a Fant4stic situation. I'll probably avoid it just because I don't want to see something I have such high regard for done so badly.

Honestly, assuming it does actually show up and the trailers aren't terrible, I'll still probably consider seeing this. I think it's an interesting idea for a different kind of superhero movie with some great actors and characters in it. And while Fox seemed to be bungling and waffling regarding it, this latest rescheduling seems at worst just part of the standard reshuffling that's come with the merger (or, at best, the opportunity to actually do some of the reshoots that supposedly caused the original delays to begin with, though that's probably too optimistic).

I think the biggest complaint against this series was that it was too Wolverine-centric and then, in the movies without him, too Mystique- & Magneto-centric ... while having that was understandable, I have to agree that is a big flaw.

They either were incapable of writing a proper ensemble or they just didn't care about the other characters.

Given their track record, I'm going with "Just didn't care".

Still, they could've done that AND done a proper ensemble. Look at Guardians of the Galaxy.

Disney: "Daily reminder that a new X-Men movie is coming out. The mainline series didn't end with Days of Future Past and Logan, you know."

EDIT: "Also, here are clips from much better X-Men movies that you'd rather be watching. ...And also Apocalypse."

I think the only dealbreaker for me is that ALL the characters seen at the end of DoFP must survive this movie or it will be the ultimate FU to fans of the franchise. It's sad that I have so little faith in their respect for continuity. I wonder why...?

As an aside... Could the disappearance (presumed dead?) of the X-men in both Gifted and Logan be tweaked as their transition into the MCU, maybe via Secret Wars?

Well, already said the Mystique won't survive, so unless she's brought back before the end of the movie, then that has already happened. At this point, we're in a new timeline, and it's more than likely the last time we'll see this version of the characters, so there's really nothing to stop them from just massacring the whole lot of them at this point.

I don't recall Mystique at the end of DoFP? Am I mis-remembering? In theory, we're in the timeline created by Wolverine. I haven't seen any evidence to contradict that yet. Given how popular the end of DOFP was, it would be odd to arbitrarily reveal that the last two movies were set in an alternate timeline...

Are people seriously still concerned about continuity between the X-Men movies? Guys, not only has that ship sailed, it hit an iceberg, sank, killed DiCaprio, sat at the bottom of the ocean for a century, and returned in ghost form for a cameo in 'Ghostbusters 2'.

I tend to leave Wolverine Origins and First Class out of my rewatches so the discrepancies are just about passable for me. Moira being firstly a Scottish scientist and then American non-scientist is still tiresome. They should have gone with Gabrielle Haller.

Without exception, every single movie appears to have introduced some contradiction or another. It's really not worth trying to untangle it all.

I admit I purchased presale tix yesterday for opening weekend. The last trailer gave me some hope. Plus, it's the last proper Fox X flick we'll get. I'll get baked and hope for a fun movie.

Did we see Nightcrawler at the End of days of Future Past? Quicksilver?
