I'm currently going through a watch of all the series and movies in order, and realized something that I found somewhat surprising: Whilst I don't consider Enterprise to be the best Trek series (but certainly not the worst!), it's definitely the most rewatchable.

If I compare it to, say TOS; it doesn't have the fiercely inventive spirit of that series, but I don't dread the many (imho) collosal duds that TOS had. Nor does it require me to keep track of the many characters and plots of DS9, which often means I can't easily just dip in and out of that show.

I don't mean to damn with faint praise, because I think Enterprise has a great, positive vibe to it, a likeable cast, great ship, and some great adventure stories. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it occupies a happy medium that means that if I just fancy an episode of Star Trek one evening, Enterprise is my go-to show.

Don't know where else to post my random thoughts, but I am about to start an Enterprise rewatch (in some cases, mostly for the first time)..... I am more convinced then ever, and my mindset going in, is, there was an original timeline before any time travel shenanigans/temporal cold war nonsense or Borg interference, that led to TOS. This entire series sets the stage for the Disco updates, and the Temporal Crimes Unit was actually just another shady Section 31 operation from the future. I know this takes away the beauty shots of "In a Mirror Darkly," but those scenes and that ship should look like the Discoprise. Enterprise rewrote the timeline.

I don't tend to get too picky about timeline consistency, but it was nevertheless quite striking to me how Discovery's Enterprise looks like a plausible descendent from the nx-01. I think I read somewhere that this was intended by the the DSC ship designers.

One of the things I quite liked about Enterprise was the Temporal Cold War plotline, and I often end up watching episodes like Cold Front and Future Tense again . The execution of the TCW was a bit mixed, but it connected the series to a wider universe, and like you say, gives viewers some wiggle room if they're bothered by the visual inconsistencies.

    Have fun rewatching Enterprise!

Enterprise is friendly--DS9 was as cutting edge as Trek ever got.

I'm on season 3 of my, I think fifth, rewatch.

Almost died of boredom during a bunch of season 2.

But I'm super happy now, and it's perfectly rewatchable. Most rewatchable, don't know. I consider TNG the least rewatchable when you remove people's sentimental attachment.

    It looks good.

I don't know about "most rewatchable", but I think it generally holds up. There are a few episodes (Carbon Creek, Dead Stop, In A Mirror Darkly) that I think genuinely belong on the all-time list.

I agree those episodes would be very well regarded on any of the series, but I feel even the middle racking ENT episodes like, say, Fortunate Son have a lot of interesting elements going for them too.

  8. rewatching right now with great pleasure =) probably 10th time or something...
currently at season 2 episode 21.
Rewatchable?.. Very! but i also enjoy Voy and DS9 at least as much.

The most rewatchable shows are TNG followed by DS9, with their relatively strong actors, ensemble casts and character-driven writing. ENT is mostly inventive in Season 3 (or Hail Mary 1), while Seasons 1 and 2 are more of the usual Bermanverse, with Season 4 then breaking the TOS-avoidance rule and going full-nostalgia (Hail Mary 2, and then it’s over).

Enterprise is great for the vast majority of episodes
No matter how many times you rewatch it

For me it has almost no rewatch value primarily because I despise Archer which is too bad because I've liked Scott Bakula since Quantum Leap but Archer is such an arrogant moron who acts without considering alien customs or anything beyond his own values that it becomes almost impossible for me to enjoy the episodes which aren't even that great for the most part even without the Archer factor.

The series features some great episodes, it's not all bad but not nearly enough to give the entire show rewatch value imo.

I can't watch A Night In Sickbay for this reason, but in general I find Archer's behaviour to reflect the overeagerness that came with being cooped up for 90 years by the Vulcans. The character gradually lost that naivete over the course of the show.

I rewatched Enterprise a couple of years ago and while I enjoyed it, I could easily go my lifetime without needing to see it again. It's entertaining but doesn't have a lot of emotional depth for me. TNG and Voyager I find to be extremely rewatchable because they entertain but also make me feel something.

It probably is what I rewatch the most, after TOS/TAS. I think mostly because I am a huge TOS fan, and it's the most TOS-proximate.

I find standalone shows much easier to rewatch than serialized ones, which half of ENT was. So... disagree.

I never thought about it that way. Usually if I have the time for one of the three episode stories I'll watch one of those, but if I've just got a spare 40 minutes then something from the first two seasons fits the bill nicely for me.

I actually started with Enterprise. I really liked the Temporal Cold War storyline and the fact that humans were kind of at odds with Vulcans that time. I really liked how they managed to add actually a lot of Vulcan history in the storyline!

The fleshing out of the Vulcan backstory is one of my favourite parts as well. :)
