Spoilers Game of Thrones: The Final Season

David and Dan know people are going to be pissed off by the series' ending, which is why they said on Jimmy Kimmel that they're going to be on vacation with their wives when the finale airs.

The outrage is real and it's only going to intensify.

The trailer shows Euron with a worried face looking at the sky followed by a noise that sounds like a dragon. I assumed this was the remaining dragon about to get revenge for its sibling. But some people online think this is the dragon that was seemingly killed in episode 4 coming back. If true it would certainly help the odds for the good guys. Either way Euron is toast

Only entitles assholes who think they get to run the show are "outraged". Are you going to admit to being an entitled asshole, right here, right now?

If not take this "outrage" shxt outta here.

Of course I'm an entitled asshole. I'm a fan. If it's not done exactly how I want it then its crap.

Are you aware you're on a Trekkie board?

:)

Isn't it possible that he did realize that she wasn't going to accept it but felt it was his duty as both the hand of the queen and as a brother to do his best rather than give a half-hearted effort?

I think he did give a full effort, but it was kind of a hail mary type of play. He knew it wouldn't work, but what if?

You'd think a Trekkie board would be the worst of the worst when it comes to nerd rage, but outside of the actual Trek boards this place is relatively civil.

Nobody is going to say I am so angry at this show that I am not going to watch the final two episodes.

You are very wrong there, because I've seen several people say exactly that.

Honest question for you. Why do you think it's a middle finger for fans? What kind of ending were you hoping for?

It's a middle finger to viewers because it takes a giant shit on characters like Jon and Dany and renders numerous storylines and character relationships a colossal waste of time.

As for the kind of ending I wanted, I'd take anything that didn't require the manufacturing of petty melodrama and actually respected and honored the characters that people have come to care about.

I don't thing HBO or any of the production team gives a flying dragon that people are pissed off.

They should, because they're trying to launch at least one prequel spinoff of the series. An ending that causes outrage is going to have a direct and chilling effect on people's willingness to embrace said spinoff(s), just as the trash ending of How I Met Your Mother and the backlash generated by it doomed the chances of How I Met Your Father and prevented that show from even making it to air.

I just watched this. Interesting about one question they didn't answer
if we see white walker again or not

They were playing coy; the Night King and the White Walkers are iced... literally.

I liked the ending of How I Met Your Mother. I didn't want a spin off so I was happy.

I also think Seinfeld had one of the greatest sitcom endings of all time. By contrast I hated the ending to both Friends and Cheers.

I admit, that I don't care enough about George's ending that I would have rewritten it as this:

* Missandrei pulls Cersei to her death
* Audience goes nuts
* Everyone tries to figure out what the next two episodes are about
* Qyburn raises Cersei from the dead as a thinking Revenant using the White Walker stuff he studied
* She tries to burn the city
* Jaime kills the Night Queen
* Whole "Mad Daeny" plot is completely averted and she names Jon Snow's children as her heirs

wow, I thought the Seinfeld finale was universally hated. Even the Seinfeld cast joked about it during Sienfeld reunion episodes on Curb Your Enthusiasm.

One series that had a great finale was TNG.
Just incredible. Almost wish the movies didn't exist so that it could end there!

Anyone outraged by anything on Game of Thrones (a show that literally got famous for subverting tropes) hasn't been paying attention or something... I can't really explain it.

How is signalling to viewers that character relationships and individual character storylines that they invested their time and energy in supporting were meaningless "subverting tropes"?

This is bullshit.

Jaime/Brienne supporters are pissed off that he slept with her and then turned around and went back to Cersei.

Jon and Dany supporters are pissed off that the characters have been turned against one another and that Dany is being written to be heading towards insanity.

Fans of the show's female characters in general are once again lobbing accusations of misogyny and racism against David and Dan for their treatment of Missandei and for Sansa telling The Hound that she wouldn't have been made strong if she'd gone with him (intimating that suffering rape and torture at the hands of Ramsay made her strong).

These aren't cases of people "not paying attention"; they're cases of people expressing genuine dissatisfaction with and anger - exacerbated and fueled by spoilers that have leaked online in some places - over writing decisions that have been made.

For the record, the jokes on Curb Your Enthusiasm, I took to be jabs at the reception the episode received rather than the show itself.

I think that was fans assuming Sansa thinks her rape at Ramsay's hands is the defining event of her life when it's not even in Sansa's top thirteen. As bad as that was, she hated the Boltons much more for killing her brother and mother.

Which shows the rape thing left a much bigger impression than in the showrunner's minds--because it was just a thing they threw in to give Sophie Turner something to do.
