Spoilers Game of Thrones: The Final Season

I loved the episode. Was happy that Jamie, Brienne, Sam, Dany, Jon, Arya, Bran, Tyrion, Sansa, Gilly, Varys, Grey Worm and the Hound all appeared to survive.

The second dragon and Ghost have less clear fates. And Gendry seemed not to appear after the first wave.

So many beautiful visual moments.

In a way the parts with Arya reminded me of the opera scene in Battlestar Galactica. Every single person the lord of light was keeping alive was solely for the purpose of protecting Arya while she was concussed.

And you forgot Millisandre in the body count.

I’m starting to wonder if Tyrion and Sansa actually get together here. Sansa seemed like the only problem with it was his loyalty to Dany.

Yeah, the main character body count wasn't much more than what we expected...except Lyanna! YOU BASTARDS.

At least she died like she lived: As a motherfucking badass.

Last week I called Arya making a go at the Night King with Beric acting as a distraction but with the whole thing backfiring horribly. I got all the right pieces but in all of the wrong places. Frankly, I'm relieved...even if the show went with the generic "kill the head and the massive army dies" moment.

But I don't care. I don't care because the cinematography and choreography and directing and video editing and sound editing were far beyond the pale. I'm so fucking exhausted by the sheer intensity of it all. But it was so damn gorgeous, too.

I especially loved two particular images: The burning trenches reflected on Melisandre's eyes and the moonlit dragons soaring above the low-lying clouds. Breathtaking! As a photographer, I'm in sheer awe.

Wow, that was remarkably straightforward compared to what people said. Not an incredibly high main character body count either...

Did Jon's dragon die? It was pretty unclear to me. Doesn't seem to be in next episode's teaser.

You forgot Melisandre. Not sure about Rhaegal. Could go either way.

I knew the Red Woman would show up as I saw the actress name in the opening credits. The scene of her lighting all the swords was fantastic.

In the past I thought Arya would kill the Night King but tonight I absolutely wasn't expecting it.

Theon's redemption arc is complete. Jaime's is still ongoing.

@DigificWriter , in the past I have given you a hard time for being stubbornly wrong about William/MIB (Westworld) and Tyler/Voq (Discovery). But I give credit where credit is due. You called this one.

She used the staff for awhile in the beginning. Then she took a blow to the head and dropped half of it. In the library, she carried only the tip of the spear.

Both dragons are alive. They're in the trailer for next week's episode. Ghost is MIA. He was in that disastrous first charge, with the Dothraki and Jorah.

I missed Melisandre in part because she didn't die in the battle, she died after the battle. My bad.

Still, overall, a much lower count than I thought. Lyanna was the only surprising death to me. I was really expecting Grey Worm and Brienne to die, and they both held on just fine. I'm not surprised at all that all the Starks and both the Lannister boys survived.

I expected the episode title to be "Battle of Winterfell", but supposedly it was "The Long Night".

It's a good thing they gave directors Miguel Sapochnik and David Nutter executive producer credit to lock them up for the season. They are killing it.

I'm not surprised at all that all the Starks and both the Lannister boys survived.

Don't forget the 2 Targaryens.

Speaking of which, I was shocked Jorah survived the charge, but I still knew he would die. I'm just glad it was in the service and in the arms of his Khaleesi.

Arya gave Sansa the Valyrian steel dagger and then she used the remaining dagger tip from her spear at the end.

Yeah, I have a feeling a fair number of people are going to grind their over the swiftness of the Night King's death and how it resulted the entire army of the dead and White Walkers to cease to exist, even if the idea was set up in "Beyond the Wall."

I imagine, if we ever get to read A Dream of Spring, the resolution of this particular conflict will be far more complicated.

...if we ever get to read it.
