So Where Does Mudd Fit In This

seigezunt

Vice Admiral

So, we've now seen Disco refer back to "Runaway" and "The Brightest Star," and it seems pretty likely that the finale will have to address or make some reference to "Calypso," what about the fourth Short Trek?

Any conjectures about how "The Escape Artist" might be factored in?

We may have seen the last of Mudd, which is no great tragedy. Especially if they zoom off to the 45th century or whenever as speculated.

Whole season was a hologram created by Mudd. At end of the finale he’s going to say “End Program” and ask Lealand of Section 31 (who is of course fully human), “Interested?”

Nicely ties together into rest of Season 2 of Discovery :techman:

The Muddroids are the origin of the Borg.

How did they go from cute female robots to ugly ass Borg? Must have been some small piece of Microsoft software left in them, that shit ALWAYS makes things degrade with age.

I think they might have toyed with the idea of tracking down Mudd's movements to figure out how he got a time crystal but did not have, ironically, the time.

Unless there's a big surprise next episode, he won't be in this season. Kind of a shame, because I was hoping he would go toe-to-toe with Pike at some point.

I mean, it could happen on a potential Pike show, or he could be recruited into Section 31 and then run into Pike. It's kinda stretching incredulity for Mudd to have dealings with the Enterprise before (even if a different crew), and he really ought not to be seen or dealt with by Spock.

He's the new captain, d'uh.

But in seriousness, I think it would be neat to have Short Treks be something that might play into the next season but doesn't have to. Would keep us on our toes speculation -wise as to which ones might be relevant and how.

Michael is sent to the future forevah on a one way trip.... but it turns out she was a Muddroid and the real one is safe at home with her friends, where they tell her how wonderful she is again and again until the end of eternity.

Two theories:
-When all is said and done, we are left believing Control has been terminated, but in an epilogue scene we find out Control is hiding out inside one of Mudd's androids biding its time to strike back.
-They incorporate the bit from the TNG novels in which Mudd cybernetically augments himself and becomes immortal, and he's around in the Calypso time period and uses his access codes to take control of Disco, as it turns out no one bothered to change them after his Groundhog Day adventures in season 1.

Yup, I actually intended 'Manic Muddy' to be a callback to that song.

So, cheers.
