Maybe it’s a generational thing? Not saying it has to be, of course. For all I know you’re younger than me! But I was born when TNG premiered and the TNG-era shows were on every week when I was growing up. I reached an age in which I could begin to truly understand Star Trek around the time DS9 was entering its fourth season and I was just utterly hooked to the 24th century.
Meanwhile, the only 23rd-century material I watched a ton as a kid was Star Trek II through IV and VI. I love those movies one and all, but the timing of my upbringing syncs perfectly with Berman-era Trek.
I'm hoping next season will bring some stability to the writers room. It sounds like the last two years there's been some strife, with people leaving, new show runners, etc. Maybe with a new show runner and new leadership, there will be a sense of a new vision to the series. I do have hope. I'm a Star Trek fan who does find Discovery decent for the most part. I think it does have the potential to be more.

TNG went through thirty writers in it's first season and then had to deal with a writers strike in the second as well as behind the scenes shenanigans. Season 3 is where the show found it's feet. The parallels between TNG and Discovery are interesting.
They are. Maybe in 20 years we will get a Documentary of the behind the scenes strife on the Discovery set. Let Anthony Rapp narrate.
I give it 9 because it is cruel to force us wait 2x14!
- Pike is brilliant in every moment. He is tense due to his fate but sees its real scale in compare of universe and lives a full life. Enjoys his ship, relies on his crew. Uses every chance to increase everyone's morale. Confirmes his 'Interspecies Protocol A+' :-) Did I said yet Anson Mount is outstanding? No matter, I say it again.
- Burnham is suddenly good. Oh that pretty moment when she shouted "Stop!"... and all the bridge officers turned to look at her as if she was a noise cub in the pack of lions. It seems to me that was first time she apologized for her behavior. I had some fun when she was supposed to receive one way ticket to the future and leave this show, but it was touching that crew made a decision to support her.
- I like that Tyler hadn't follow Burnham. I afraid of he will undertake suicide mission and we finally loose him... I know that a lot of Discovery fans would be pleased if Tyler dies, but I really like this guy and his bromance with Pike. Well, Nhan leaves Enterprise, so it needs new security head, doesn't it? Ash would be handsome in red :-)
- They found a time to describe a time-travel suit, which looks like common clothes but protects his owner from all the types of radiation? Why Pike couldn't wear one all the time?
- Now Spock's foresights looks like he was thrown back in time and come up two months before the red signals appeared, with splinters of alternate timeline in his memory. And it definitely drove him mad.
What's with this wasteful use of energy of depending on ForceFields for the connecting Gang-Plank? They really didn't have window panels stored in a cargo box somewhere?
Also, use the bloody door on the Shuttle Bay, stop leaving it open all the time just to have to depend on the Force Field to keep internal Atmosphere at normal!
I think my biggest issue with this seasons was the "Go-Go Gadget" like pop out devices.
Nobody in their right mind designs tech in such a way that it's overyly reliant on moving parts and things popping out of "Hammer Space".
It's way too cartoony and not within the realm of plausibility.
Same with the pop out Gravity Generator.
Parts literally came out of Hammer Space to create that Gravity Generator.
Magnificent. Cinematic. Movie theater worthy. Seamless, flowing direction. Quintessential Trek dialogue, albeit--I was about to type--not groundbreaking.
But I'm almost 60. First interracial kiss age. And here we have interracial, same-sex, adult in the right sense of the word, relationships playing out right before our eyes, as part of a Trekkian Galaxy at stake, AI versus humanity showdown. No small accomplishment.
Especially in today's world, Trek wholeheartedly incorporating the IDIC philosophy as just a matter of course is not only welcome, but desperately needed.

Unless I'm totally misreading my star charts "grid 07, quad 09.." is describing Xahea's location within sector grid 15. The full coordinates would be something like subquadrant 1 sector zone 5 grid 07 quad 09 block 003 sector 01
pop out devices are entirely plausible if we continue to develop tech as we have the last 50 years. Hell we have folding cellphones that are millimeters thick right now. Now jump forwards 200 years and tell me what you see in terms of folding parts isn't plausible.
Mixed feelings on this one. Gave it a 7.
On one had there was a lot of good moments.
But on the other I worry that they crammed too much build up into one episode to get the game changing, canon resolving finale they have been promising.
As much as I would like to see a Pike spinoff. I’m starting to think maybe what we’ve seen is enough. I mean, we know where he’s headed...we’ve known it for 50 years. Let him go out on top. A spin-off could be really cool though.

No. Just because Pike finally got informed, doesn't mean it's an open secret. Pike was due an explanation from Michael about Philippa and clearly, at some point, he got it. He already knew about Lorca, as I recall. That he gets to ruin Georgiou's 'surprise' revelation just makes it a fun bonus.

Gave the episode a 9.5. So much emotion. Lots of sadness and a surprising amount of humor. Georgiou’s suggesrion that they use a photon to create supernova earned her one of Burnham’s “bitch, you must be crazy” looks, Saru, Pike, and Cornwell’s, responses had me in stitches.
The Ent bridge crew”s salute to Burnham, and DSC bridge crew salute to Pike almost got me. Sarek actually shows some emotion for Michael,
Po and Tilly continue to delight.
The Ent bridge was just so ugly — KIDDING, I could marry that bridge it was so gorgeous. That beautiful display Detmer was looking at, was that on Ent or DISCO?
Anyway, great ep. It’s been an incredible season. Looking forward to the last hurrah, Hope we won’t have to wait a year for more.

Would have just been faster to beam them over. Discovery’s crew compliment isn’t that big.
Their world is supposed to be more advanced than ours.
It is in certain areas. Let’s not forget how devestating WW3 might have been in their world. Could have set them back in certain departments
