Spoilers A big hint about the finale/season 3 has dropped...

Q a liar? Certainly not! I am shocked by such slander!

But seriously, have you actually watched TNG? It is pretty clear he is not really omnipotent.
I tried to avoid the Q episodes, since his initial presentation was one I found rather off putting.

You are correct that he is "not really" omnipotent, but he is close enough, much like the Asgardians in Marvel. Regardless, the use of the mycelial network to support a realm of close to god like beings in Trek is something I find inoffensive, at best. I would prefer no god like beings, but that is personal preference. Largely because telling me that it just technology I don't understand is rather condescending in nature and basically allows for similar hand waving justification for the writers.

But, YMMV.

One video I saw thinks Control is Borg tech left over from Enterprise, but not the actual Borg.
Well sure. If Romulans (as well as those Mintakans) are proto-Vulcan, why can't there be a proto-Borg race. I kinda like it.

Then again, a nanite is a nanite is a nanite. The Borg ought to hold no monopoly to those. Remember the Klingons are masters of nanotech in ENT and DSC.

But if there are keepers of Borg secrets on the 23rd century, then S31 is a good candidate for one.

Seems as likely as anything else that's going on.

The 2:15-mark is when he gets to the point. Around the five-minute mark is when I start thinking, "I'm listening..." Hmmm. Okay, I'm not going to outright dismiss what he says. It's possible.

I feel like I am seeing the same text effect in your sig?

Am I already one of them?

As for the video - it proceeds from several false premises. 1) "all the fans hate Discovery and have problems with it" - er, no, apparently a relatively vocal minority. 2) "But we know there was no Discovery/Spore Drive etc before" - do we? Is there a line in TOS or TNG or DS9 or Voyager that says "Starfleet never had a ship called Discovery" or "never had a spore drive"? Of course not, same as there was never a Captain Archer, or Porthos, or Xindi.... until there was. 3) coming back to the "but it's not canon Trek" his whole theory - bits of which may well turn outto be true, as I can see S31 having used Borg tech in things - is just another excuse to say "oh, but it's really it's own thing in another universe and not *real* Trek", so it even ends on a conclusion and taking position that is at odds with his stated intent of what the video was meant to be about (or, as it were, clickbait)...

There's actually a shimpler reason for the whole Control plot- modern tech is in advance of 60s SF anyway, so a 60s style set would get laughed off the screen, unless there's a proper good reason for the characters to ban certain levels of tech - in other words, the rationale for all the old tech in Nu BSG, which the Cylons couldn't hack. But I doubt they'll totally dial back on modern-looking sets, simply because this isn't the 1960s.

As for whether there really will be athousand year time-jump... I dunno, I think if there is it'll be the equivalent of simply destroying the ship, and season 3 could be set on Enterprise or another ship or ships, with "Discovery" finally becoming (as I'd always hoped) the mission statement rather than just a ship name.

Just like I said previously, we could be heading for at least a partial reset.

No surprise that all the wibbly wobbly time stuff we saw in Enterprise and First Contact has caused changes.

It also would explain why some say it isnt PU, or to put it a different way, why it does not feel like the PU, because in a way it isnt its an altered timeline, I can appreciate how that will piss some fans off though.

It wont surprise me if grown up Burnham ends up being the one in the TimeSuit as a way to survive the reset and create the Red Anomalies because someone has to, either that or she ends up deleting herself from the timeline, she is after all the common denominator as we have seen.

Will CBS lock the alternate timeline in or will it be reset time sooner rather than later.

I am veering towards the alternate lock in myself simply because we know Georgiou is sticking around for a while longer.

Whatever they do, there's still the Picard Series. I assume they want all the 40-somethings who'll check out the series, but don't like Disco, to think Picard is the same character they used to watch.

This is what confuses me. When I watch the Abrams films, I see Kirk, Spock and company as the same characters, just thrust into different circumstance. To me, even if it is an alternate timeline with different circumstance, Mount and Peck are still Pike and Spock.

I'm usually skeptical of theories involving elaborate solutions to things that aren't universally acknowledged as really being problems. "Fix the timeline" theories are usually coming from sectors of fandom that have fundamental objections to the current franchise to a degree far out of proportion with fandom as a whole, IMO.

Interestingly, the novelverse deals with this exact same topic, except that it's a reference to Romulan attempts to hijack other starships (based on the 'drone ship' from ENT).
IIRC Christopher's RoTF novels set after the Romulan War books ignore that.
