It's curious that they haven't. Seems an odd omission.
Well, if you can use a proxy and you know italian, on VVVID it's free...Yay! Now if Funimation would just get the rights to Ark of the Stars.
So, they will (re)do the "Bolar Wars" story (most likely).2202's getting a sequel!

Well, when I mentioned it earlier in the thread - Ithekro mentioned is WAS a full on, released film (IE not part of either televised series); so the way to get those rights are probably different, and perhaps more expensive or have other parties involved, etc. and they may not feel the ROI on obtaining said rights would be worth it to them. It's curious that they haven't. Seems an odd omission.
Yeah I'm blaming this on Kobayashi. He named the one of the main battleship classes he designed in Resurrection the Dreadnought as well. What I really dislike though is that they shrunk the Dreadnought from the original design concept of 333 meters to 250. It looks so anemic compared to even the other factions' cruisers.Nice pics!
Re: "Dreadnought" (or "Dreadnaught" as some call it) - I guess I'm too much of a Treknology traditionalist. Even though I realize they likely derived this name from the HMS Dreadnought (1573) or the one from 1801, it still seems weird to me that it's a class name and not a class type. I think maybe that's why I like the old "Borodino" nomenclature given to it from the pre-2199 days. Can't seem to shake it out of my head-canon.![]()
I also am scared to admit I actually had some sympathy for Dessler at this point. Yes, he'as HORRIBLY screwed up, but given the situation he was put in as a young child, IDK if you could say how he turned out was his fault or the fault of anything he did. He's not evil, just driven and desperate because as he sees it, the ultimate survival of his race was made his sole responsibility; and he had less than a century to find (or Gamilaform) a suitible planet for his race.
The way they did it felt way too much like they were trying to go "DESSLER DID NOTHING WRONG" and pardon him of all the crimes he did in 2199. Even worse, he doesn't fucking grow at all in 2202. He's still the exact same person that put the events in 2199 in motion in the first place. And there's no indication at all that he's going to change his behavior.
And what does he get in return? He gets his entire empire back no problems at all, no one who'd previously had issues with him ever protesting at all, just saluting the dictator as he walks back.
Oh the Zeon parallels are not accidental here. 2202 is written by Harutoshi Fukui (might be misspelling the first name), the screenwriter for Gundam Unicorn, which is one of the worst shows in terms of trying to 'redeem' Zeon. You know, it's quite similar to the all Zion's supporters that I've found on other anime forums. Zion dropped a colony on Earth killing half the human population and they are all like "Oh, you know, there is blame on both sides!".He literally genocided entire planets and everyone is ok with that???
I know it's just fiction, but there are so many (voluntary) parallels between Zion and Nazi that it's frightening finding so many enthusiasts online...
Don't forget the hypocrisy lol.You know, it's quite similar to the all Zion's supporters that I've found on other anime forums. Zion dropped a colony on Earth killing half the human population and they are all like "Oh, you know, there is blame on both sides!".
No, I'm definitely NOT okay with it, but that said it was his father who turned him into the monster he became (hell, he was about to assassinate him when Dessler was 8); so yeah, I do have some sympathy for him in that respect. You know, it's quite similar to the all Zion's supporters that I've found on other anime forums. I'm sorry to godwin this, but Hitler had a shitty childhood too...No, I'm definitely NOT okay with it, but that said it was his father who turned him into the monster he became (hell, he was about to assassinate him when Dessler was 8); so yeah, I do have some sympathy for him in that respect.
Yeah, but here's the thing. No, I'm definitely NOT okay with it, but that said it was his father who turned him into the monster he became (hell, he was about to assassinate him when Dessler was 8); so yeah, I do have some sympathy for him in that respect.
