That still does not address what Tobias would bring to the show beyond his single purpose in the pilot, and would it help the series in any way.
I think he would be good at this point to help the series CLOSE, with the final season or maybe final episode arc.
We could have him encounter people who had interactions with Madison and her family over the years. For example, the Asian woman from the Airplane Webisodes (they finally gave up on that format, huh?), any stadium and vulture survivors... some people form Mexico who fled that destruction... surely SOMEONE from the American Indian/ Surivialist wars survived somehow?? All those guys scattered, and Tobias runs into them along the way. It would be like a clip show, but more meat on it.
His payback for helping him survive allows Alicia and her group a happy ending with a more permanent community.
I don't see how this new storyline like the Hulk TV show (going place to place, helping people) can last very long in the apocalypse. Good idea to scout out for people to slowly bring them into community (i.e. connect at an outpost and get vetted). But long term, they need to build a home.
Also, the new time jump with the original also makes any future Fear storylines almost worthless, as we know Morgan won't be heading back to his friends, and he has nothing that would encourage cross country trade.
My personal ending for TWD would be that there is a remnant of civilization in literally mid America that is able to hang on to the past while forging ahead. (i.e. the Farmland in the middle is able to produce enough crops to feed survivors , a part of Texas has a refinery that holds a lot of crude which should last "forever", and can be refined every so often to get enough fuel for the next few months...not sure what else they can do...but theoretically enough that we don't "need" other countries...maybe also NASA..where we can use sattellites for communication and weather prediction?)
