Considering that there is no longer need to farm, except for fun, to have a restaurant and most businesses except for fun, I really don't think there is a shortage of real estate. Anyone who wants to run a vineyard or a restaurant can.

Look. If the greatest problem in the society is that you have to enter a waiting list for a beach house, then that's pretty good. I'd take that over what we have now any day. And it's not like they were not working to correct this terrible malady, Picard's friend was working on raising new islands, no doubt to combat this specific issue.
Not to mention all the paradisiacal planets with populations in the thousands or low millions. If you want to live on the beach, or a mountaintop, or in the desert, and there aren't any places available suitable for your desires on Earth, maybe there are on Deneva or Pacifica.

What confused me the most was that in 'Family' a French politician wanted to give Picard a parade. Isn't that bad taste considering Picard was just used as a weapon to kill 11,000 people? Even if it wasn't Picard's fault, I don't think people would be in a celebratory mood (although Earth was saved from Borg assimilation, I would think they'd give Riker and Data the parade).
Even in DS9, I think Sisko and the others blamed Picard not for his actions as Locutus, but his actions before that. Not killing himself or recusing himself once it was clear the Borg would use him (especially after they hailed him by name), and amateurish command of the Enterprise where he allows Shelby and Riker are fighting like schoolchildren in the leadup to a Borg attack.

Sisko will come back from Prophetland just to cause trouble on the Picard show out of spite for Picard.
Well, this theory is officially retired now.

You know who's age is wonky? Vina's. How old is she and how old does she look? She was supposed to pass for 18 in "The Cage" when they thought she was born around the time of the crash on Talos IV. Now they've fudged things a bit and put her as a seemingly age appropriate love interest for Pike. Whatever's going on with the character, Melissa George has it covered.
They didn't fudge anything. Later on in "The Cage" they said Vina was an adult at the time of the crash. That would make her at least in her late-30s in "The Cage" (Number One deduces as much) and maybe in her early-40s in "If Memory Serves". Melissa George was born in 1976, making her 42-43 now. So it works. The actress is the right age for the character.
^ But she still had to pass for 18 before all that was revealed. That threw me off.
She looks good for her early-40s. I thought she was younger than me, not three years older.
And I never bought Susan Oliver for 18. It's the same problem I have with most high school movies and shows I've seen. The characters are all played by actors in their 20s and sometimes even 30s.

I wish we could retcon that the Talosians tried to pass Vina off as 18 because WTF?

Now, the real question goes, did Vina look alike to all observers? The Salt Vampire explicitly did not. And while the Talosians try to lure in a male, any male, from the landing party initially, we subsequently follow everything from the point of view of Pike, and may thus have seen "his" Vina only. Perhaps Vina is simply a woman to his liking, the stated age of 18 years barely registering in his subconscious where the Talosians rummage for the ideal qualities to be included in their creation?

I don’t think it’s supposed to be creepy to the max. I think the viewer is supposed to find Pike and Vina compelling. I also think, if Pike is 34, it’s slightly less creepy than if he’s 50. And I’m pretty sure Vina appears the same to the landing party, since they all stare at her like Pike does when she first appears.
The problem with the Cage is that it’s shot through with 60s attitudes towards women. And Roddenberry’s, which weren’t anywhere near as progressive as he thought. Allegedly teenage Vina is a product of the author and time.

There's a lot about "The Cage" we have to hand-wave because "1964". I'm glad none of that is being brought forth DSC S2. If canon purists want to complain about it, then it says more about them than it does about canon.
