If the Klingons show up on the Picard show, do you think we'll get the Discovery style Klingons or go back to the The Search For Spock - Enterprise design? Personally I'm hoping they go back to the TSFS - Ent design, just to keep it consistent with TNG and it's movies. The same applies to every familiar alien species we see. I think Discovery can get away with changing the designs since it's kind of off by itself in a new era, but since the Picard show will be a sequel to TNG and Nemesis, they should try as much as possible to keep a visual consistency with them.
The S2 Discovery Klingons are basically the same as the Biker Gang TNG Klingons. Just pretend that the higher resolution of Discovery allows you to see details that weren't visible before.
It's not a theory. Just a way of saying "They're the same", even though they look different. They have all the features of Klingons: 1. Bumpy forehead - check 2. Tough-looking jackets -- check 3. Speak Klingon -- check 4. Honor and crap -- check 5. Have a D7 -- check 6. Fight with Bat'leths -- check 7. Redundant physiology -- check 8. From Qo'nos -- check Ergo, Klingons.
I hope for no Klingons. ST ID and DSC have done the most to interest me in Klingons since "Barge of the Dead."
They'll already have the Discovery Klingon masks and costumes, so I'm guessing they'll look like that, maybe with a few subtle variations so Worf (who will still look different, albeit less so) doesn't stick out too much.
Maybe if Klingon makeup winds up being the only thing different in the Picard show I'd be willing to rationalize it, but if it carries over the entire Discovery aesthetic, the cluttered set design, the window on the bridge, some equally goofy outfits like the half-collars, the harsh lighting, the constantly swimming camera twirls, then I'm out...just out. Patrick Stewart alone is not enough to make something feel like Trek anymore than Nimoy's cameos in JJ Trek couldn't make JJ Trek feel like Trek.
Surely the Picard Show exists only for nostalgia? So I would say the opposite: Only legacy aliens and "where are they now" stories.
It's almost confirmed that the show is going to be called Star Trek: Destiny, hence another STD acronym, hence STD2
*sigh* Why must y'all insist on being willfully obtuse? We've been telling you for YEARS that the official abbreviation for Discovery is DSC. If the new series is called Destiny, it would likely be abbbreviated as DES or DST. This is consistent with how previous series are abbreviated: TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT. Retire the "STD" jokes. They were lame the first time, and they get lamer every time they're repeated.
I move that the STD acronym be transferred to The Picard Show, and that Discovery should be referred to as Gonorrhea.
Make Klingons smooth headed like TOS to create more confusion. Better yet, retire Klingons for this series as Romulans will take center stage.
