I think it was obvious who did the fire. This was clearly Dante's Inferno.

It would have been VERY cool. Though I guess the Flash writers are more willing to give genre references.... pulling a sword out from his coat to do close up combat would have made sense ;)

MM... but I guess this explains how Emiko is able to do what she does.

I wonder , though... was this "role" actually meant for Thea, and they just tweaked it for a new character?

Wow..way to blame shift. That type of attitude strengthens those who claim reverse racism! now, I don't recall, but did he use the fighting skills he showed off in Highlander in War of the Worlds? That is what I can see him bringing to Arrow as a villain.

I too first saw Paul in War of the Worlds....not the greatest actor , and also VERY disappointed they killed off the nonwhite characters... though I would say the 3 men of first season were equally good, and each brought something to the mix, that was destroyed completely in season 2. But I would heavily blame the writing/direction of season 2 way more than Paul.

Hmm, this isn't surprising -- I figured they were setting up Batwoman to take Arrow's place as the gritty, street-level vigilante show in the franchise -- but it's still sobering news. It's been an impressive run, and Stephen Amell has been intriguing to watch as he's played Oliver through many different stages of his personal evolution.

I hope they manage to fold some of the cast members into the other shows on at least a recurring basis. I'm hearing rumors that Cisco and Caitlin may be leaving The Flash, so maybe Felicity could take their place. Maybe Dinah and Laurel could move over to Batwoman and do a Birds of Prey sort of thing. Curtis is already moving to Washington, DC, which is where the Legends are based now.

    Well.
.I guess that Ollie will sacrifice himself after all? Sad if it happens....or maybe hurt enough to retire?

But that just might work out...we will have to see how the Crisis deals with Black Lightning...not that they need more characters...but could make for a few good guest appearances

I'm guessing that role has taken a toll on Amell's body and that played into the decision to end the show. Plus 7 and a half seasons is a pretty good run. Hopefully Amell will be willing to come back for a crossover in the future.

When Flash was getting ready to get set up I was hoping Felicity was her middle name..her real first name would have been Iris. She would fit well there

That depends on when the season debuts. The card at the end of Supergirl episode 9 clearly stated COIE would be in the Fall (Autumn). Now if the show goes out in October as usual, adding 10 weeks would take it to the Christmas break. I suppose it could debut a few weeks early.

It's had a good run and it's nice that it'll get a proper conclusion, but I'll still be sad to see it go.

I could see the crossover being episode 8 and then episode 9 and 10 could air on the same night.

Yes! They finally cancelled this shitty show. It jumped the shark after Season 2. Even when 5 improved, it wasn't enough after all the damage of 3/4. Felicity was the ultimate failing of this series that lowered it down to being a YA soap opera.

The real reason this is likely ending is ratings. Look at this week's outcome. 0.2 and Less than a Million. That probably sealed the deal, and the timing of this announcement makes sense.

Glad they aren't dragging it out further.

I had unique viewing history with this show compared to anything else I have watched. Normally I watch a series from first airing to when it ends. Or giveup after losing interest and never go. Or shows that began when I was young, I saw earlier episodes in reruns. Good or bad episodes, you can be selective because they already exist.

But with Arrow I have stopped watching twice and come back. First time was in middle of season 4. I was not happy with the direction at all. Plus with all the new Arrowverse shows it was easy to move on. Than I watched season 5 and the first half of season 6 and returned this season again. Work schedule has certainly been a factor but I have been interested in the direction again too.

There are a huge chunk of episodes i have never seen but never seemed lost of what I missed. Now that I know it’s ending it’s more tempting to check out what I have not seen.

The thing that hits me most is how much has changed for me since the show started. I was living with my sister in Las Vegas the first season. Back in Wisconsin since than. It was my Dad’s favorite show. He was diagnosed with Cancer early 2013 and died in September of that year. He used to DVR a lot of shows but towards the end did not have the strength to watch much. One of the last conversations I remember was him saying to delete everything else but save Arrow.

Eight years is an amazing run. Heck, BATMAN only lasted three seasons back in the sixties.

    Take that, Caped Crusader! :)

Seriously, who could have predicted that a TV series about Green Arrow would run eight years and spawn an entire universe of spin-offs and companion shows?

That’s no big loss. Batwoman will replace it, which has more of a excuse to be Batman like than Arrow. Honestly, this version has never sat right with me.

Green Arrow was pretty much a copy of Batman with his Arrowcave, teen sidekick wearing red, Arrow car, mansion, the were both rich playboys. No surprise that the modern Arrow would take after Batman.

I stopped watching the show - along with The Flash - because of decisions that were made on Legends of Tomorrow, but I'm still saddened to see it come to an end.

Hopefully it will end on a positive 'high note' that honors its place and status as the Arrowverse's "flagship" and namesake series while still leaving the door open for future appearances by its characters and cast.

I thought it would go 10 seasons easily. Look at Smallville and Supernatural.

His personality is very different however in the comics. Strangely, Smallville did him better.

I guess the difference is that the Arrowverse has grown beyond any single show, so the production/universe is still continuing, and it's less essential to keep any single show going to achieve that.

Also, Amell said he's leaving to spend more time with his family, who apparently don't live in Vancouver. I guess that's not the case for the Supernatural or Smallville leads.
