Captain Marvel (2019)

The only "controversy" surrounding the film is butthurt fanboys who like to play the victim whining about "third wave feminism" and review bombing a movie they haven't seen.

Sure. You can blame it on the supposed fanboys if you want to, but this was exactly the reaction that was expected after Brie Larson's controversial comments. This isn't just a minor incident. Some big publications have been covering the divisive reactions, and the mouse even stepped in to abolish the 'Want to See' on RT. Studios are recognizing that RT has a bigger influence on audience interest nowadays than ever.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 'Audience Score' gets hidden on RT, once it starts going down like on IMDB.

Through 20 films, Marvel has steered away from such controversies, but this is certainly the most controversial it has gotten. Brie is the only divisive casting choice Marvel has made. Personally disappointed that Stuckman didn't like her performance, she may have been miscast for a genre role like this:

That being said, I expect the film to be 'middle of the road' by Marvel standards. Ant-man quality or less. Feige is still running quality control, so he won't do a bad film.... regardless of an underwhelming lead actor.

This is an ideal situation for me because I don't want CM to underperform. Still a fan of this universe till Endgame comes out.

Apple's new TV division just picked up a Larson-produced and starring show.

The Daily Beast has posted about "angry white men los[ing] their damn minds."

Seems like a minor incident when she's getting work and the complaints are being dismissed by actual journalists as opposed to vloggers. I'm a straight, white male. I'm not bothered by her comments. I find those that are to be thin-skinned. Funny because I'm in the crowd that those people would probably call SJWs or NPCs or whatever shit they've decided to call me these days. And despite what some may say, its not because I'm following the liberal media's line. Its because I honestly think this is a silly complaint. There are a lot bigger things to get upset about than a movie or a star's comments.

I have absolutely no problem with what she said, and I find it a bit sad that some people do.
Just to make sure I didn't miss anything, all she said was that she wanted to see some more diversity in entertaiment journalism and critics, right?
That's it.
