I can't remember all of mine by a longshot but I do remember the following in no particular order:

    -The Burger King
    -Another Burger King
    -An even creepier Burger King
-Torgo from Manos: The Hands of Fate
-Torgo the White from the episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 where TV's Frank ascends to Second Banana Heaven
-A somehow even more creepy Burger King
    -Me
    -Another of me
-Another of me but this time in black-and-white
-My face Photoshopped onto the Balok puppet's head
-A Burger King that is creepy even by my lofty standards
-Dude, seriously? Another Burger King? How are you not on an INTERPOL watch list?
    -Carl Spock
    -Carl Spock on the bridge
    -Santa Carl
    -Carl O'Lantern
-Carl Spock artwork incorporating his afro and face into a Starfleet delta insignia

Yep, I really joined back in 1999! I guess that makes me one of the oldest (though not most productive) members here. I remember that in those days, Trektoday was THE place to go for Trek news. I've always loved this forum, and I remember in 'the early days' I created several long threads (like 'Would you have sex with an alien?' or 'Is it right to kill a hologram?'). Good times - and still going!

Remember when the board moved and we all had to register again, the great migration that some never made it. lol

There have been a few board migrations over the years. Fortunately I always seemed to make it.

I had to re-register but it was no big deal as i was not really a big poster, and i only joined the year before for ST Voyager, which was on this new sci-fi channel that came with my very first cable box and free dial-up internet courtesy of a NTL, who had eventually arrived in my area early 2000, but before that through 1999 i was using freeserves 1p a minute dial-up on a speedy 28k modem, the future had arrived. Lol

I remember ‘The Great Purge’(2002?) when we lost 1000s off our post counts. It worried me at the time but now I don’t bother to check and see how many posts I have made.

I can't find the avatar I had when I first joined. I know what it was, but about 10 years ago I lost a huge amount of data on my PC, and those files were in it. The image host I kept it on (as a backup) has long since gone under, and I don't think there's any way to find it now. :(

I'm just mixing old avatars I used to have with pics of myself from 2005 and earlier (the one I'm using right now is from 2002). So, don't worry about it too much. Just whatever reminds you of the time in a good way.

I've had the same username since the day I joined the board. I never had to reregister and even during the Great Purge of 2002 all I lost were some posts out of my total, nothing else.

Speaking of which: that is probably the biggest disaster to hit the board since I joined and though we've had issues since none of them have ranked as high as the Great Purge for the carnage it wracked on the forums in both information lost and infrastructure damaged.

I've just spent the past few hours digging through old backup CDs from 2002 through 2006, and I've found some stuff. It's not just avatars, but wow it's all nostalgic for me! I know this is just about avatars, but by damn you're going to travel through this wonderful cornucopia of fond TrekBBS memories with me and you're going to love it!

Firstly, this is my list of "new friends!" from TrekBBS shortly after I joined:

My political compass from 2004 (the coordinates are original but I made a chart from those coordinates so you don't have to go look up where it falls on the map):
Yeah, by that time I had already started moving leftward.

An old post from Praetor Adele to me, one I had apparently pasted into a .doc file. I've screencapped it so it can be viewed here:

A screencap from my browser at the time, which had a Star Trek LCARS theme. You can see the UGO TrekBBS main page:

The very first photoshop I made for something here that I can't remember now:

And, of course, yes! I found a few avatars, including the Star Trek insignia cross "shields up" one I made! I couldn't find the version that was animated, though. Still, hooray nostalgia!

You made friends with Enterpriser and survived? Wow.

Even Enterpriser couldn't pull off that achievement.

I was a friend machine back then. I could make friends with everyone. I was friends with both General Chang and Mostlyharmless at the same time. I was also capable of making more than 300 posts a week on a regular basis.

I know the feeling. Both, actually. I can still do the 300 posts a week thing easily but am busier than I used to be and just don't post nearly as often as I did back in the day. My record for most posts in one day may be about 300 and that was many years ago.

Yep. I think the best I ever did was 250(?) posts in a single day because I was coming up on the Commie rank, and made one big burst of posts. I used to have the "subscribed" section of my user page crammed with links that I would just open one right after the other. As for you, my friend, I doubt anyone will ever catch up to you.

Out of curiosity, I checked out the current member rank by post, and while I'm 6th on the board, you're first, and not only are you first, but you are very first. Even @Trekker4747's 100,000+ posts are only half of what you've managed. Good show, old man. :D

Wow this thread is a blast from the past. It's nice seeing some of the old avatars return, even though three pages in and there haven't been any Sombrero avatars posted yet, and I don't think Samuel T. Cogley posts here anymore. That whole era (before the first Kelvin movie came out) was weird.

By the way, I just realized last Saturday was my 16th anniversary on this board. Time flies.

My avatar still wears the sombrero she first donned in 2008. If I still had her original non-Sombrero picture I would probably change her hat to a fez.

I'm lucky to be T'Bonz. Lisa didn't changes people's names at the time and I had some duller version. My account got wiped out in one of the infamous crashes of the early days and to compensate me (not that I really cared about that, as long as I could come back), she let me choose a new one. Yay.

I've thought of changing it since, but I've almost always been T'Bonz here.

How many old-timers here have changed names? Not you, Amaris, I KNOW you have!
