I can't remember what my first av was and I can't find any of my 80x80 avs to jog my memory. It probably featured (a) cat(s), though.
I've only used 2 avatars in my 17 years here. The first was this: Spiff made my current one as well. What a nice guy! I've had it for a very long time, and will probably never change it.
I really haven't been around for long enough, but my first avatar from 2015/2016 was a Nova helmet photoshopped on the regular avatar thingy: I'm thinking about using a Grace Holloway (from the 1998 Doctor Who movie which was set in 1999) avatar, but I'm unsure.
Thanks. It was made on a dollz site that no longer exists. Where's your wolf? I don't think I've ever seen you without one. I made sombrero-wearing Borg and sombrero-wearing tribble smileys back then. They're being used on a Doctor Who forum I belong to (since the owner was into Star Trek as well).
I have most of my old avatars around, the first one was a modified SantaClaus... later on an armor, warships, sailing ships and for more than a decade an old ship which some of my friends called "Carl the cranky coaster" lately it has been a computer casing and now the pirate av for a short while I had myself as avatar.
I know you're fairly new on the board but technically it didn't open until April 18th. For those reading who may well not have been alive then (:O), It didn't get a domain name until May '99 either. Not sure if @Roald really joined back in 99 (on April 21st), but he appears to still be active and may have better memories than me.
I definitely remember Sev Trek, and Sev Wars. There was a whole Sev-verse thing going on. I think he quit that years ago though.
Nice! For those interested, to save you searching for it, here's the relevant part of the link, in all its '90s glory!
I'm pretty sure it's @Paul Weaver with @Teelie as the runner-up. They registered a few months before I did and, unlike me, they're not on their second go-around.
I don't have all of my old avatars, but here are some of the older ones I could find, or the images they came from:
Doug Little's artwork was perfect for me. I still go back to it, from time to time. (I was born while LBJ was in office, but Nixon is the first president that I remember. When I was little, people called him "Tricky Dickie" so much that I thought it was his real name!)
