If history repeats itself, I am so getting a dinosaur. Just something small and not-so-very-threatening. Can't decide between one that walks on 2 legs or 4. Maybe something like an Archaeopteryx.

If history repeats itself then you'd better watch out for that giant meteor!

Ouch! my first BF was a bassist, so I am a little familiar with that instrument. The high tension of its strings is pretty rough on finger muscles and tendeons :( I play guitar and a lot of flutes and recorders, including many Asian types. Unfortunately, I'm having arthrosis in my finger joints which makes playing increasingly difficult.
Unless you live in Malta or Cyprus, you can still exchange it at your national Central Bank. They'll give you the same exchange rate as they gave in 2002. Here's a list of all countries and their respective deadlines for exchanging old notes and coins: https://www.bundesbank.de/en/tasks/cash-management/foreign-exchange

According to your link, France has already expired, so it sounds like @Discofan is still out of luck.

aww, that sucks! I had totally overlooked the paragraph after the table. I hope it's only a small note so that the loss stays endurable.
I found a 50 DM note a while ago but promptly mislayed it again. Fortunately for me, Germany has no deadline.

I am finding needle craft, sewing, making a couple of children’s costumes from scratch, is simultaneously therapeutic and stressful.

That's so cool! Love guitar and flutes (and all instruments, honestly). But I'm sorry about your arthrosis. I have no idea what my issue is. I used to call it carpal tunnel, but I honestly don't know if that's what it is or some sort of repetitive stress injury. The thing is, I bought another bass a few years back and tried playing again...the problem still exists and if I play for an hour, I hurt for a week. It's just not worth it.

Well, don't worry, it wasn't that much money (100F). That's about fifteen Euros. Plus I didn't know I had them so it's not really a loss.

Wondering when I became the sort of guy that would run out of glitter ribbon.

I don't think I ever had glitter ribbon. I usually ask the store clerk to wrap my presents.

It’s from the haberdashery for a Lego Emet costume. I managed to buy exactly half the amount I needed.

@Scribble There might be basses with a lower string tension (a greater scale length might do the trick) and in addition you could switch to thinner and softer strings to reduce the strain.
In big music shops you usually can try out a few instruments. That might be a good chance to find one that suits your special needs.
Have you tried the Fender Jaguar Bass yet? I've never played one myself but if it has the same neck shape as the Fender Jaguar guitar it'll practically snuggle into your hands. Makes a world of a difference for your left hand as the angle between wrist and fingers is flatter (more natural) and you'll therefore have to apply less pressure to the strings.

Hmmm, why does Wikipedia list Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix as Jaguar-players but doesn't mention me?

I'll need to look into the shape of the Jaguar's neck. I really cannot stand the look of Jaguars, personally (same with Les Pauls, and don't get me started on Rickenbachers), but I can certainly think about it when I build my own, hopefully, this Summer.

That said, if that doesn't work, I'm satisfied with digitally recreating my music. IK Multimedia has what seems like an excellent modeled (not samples) bass plugin and I have a few guitar plugins (samples) that can sound really convincing with enough finessing. If I can't comfortably play electric bass guitar anymore (not a huge fan of upright and I have no desire to play one), I'm done playing a physical bass, not that I have any skills left, anyway, after 20-some years of not playing.

    Certainly random!

I know her from the Doctor Who episode "The Unicorn and the Wasp", but I'm certain I've seen here elsewhere, but I don't recognize any of the other productions she's been in.

She found fame in the seventies series Good Life and became the ideal woman/wife figure for an entire generation or three, or four.
